My daughter is 16 months old. She's 28 lbs. and is 34" tall. She's tall because her dad and I are tall. She seems so big in the crib. Should we ditch the crib and get her a bed?

If you feel that she is ready for a toddler bed, then give it a try. My daughter was 18 months old before we put her in the toddler bed. She didn't like it at first, but now its her "big girl bed" She goes there every night and wakes up on occasion. She loves her bed. Hopefully, it works out for you.

As soon as she starts trying to climb out of the crib, we had to move our 15 month old to a toddler bed.

yes ditch the crib. she mostly likely can climb over and get hurt. i believe that she is big enough for a toddler bed. you could probably get a toddler bed that later turned into a full size bed. i just don't want your little angel to get hurt.

Can she crawl out of the crib? I always waited until they could do that then got a bed for them. Just because shes tall shouldn't matter. Its more a safety thing. I was always afraid they would fall climbing out.

I wouldn't necessarily go for age, height, or weight considerations, but also consider her abilities. Is she making any tries at getting out of the crib?

I walked in on my son with one leg up on the railing, and that afternoon, my husband removed the from railing. (We had one of those convertible cribs-beds). He was about 17 months I think, but on the small side. But he's a climber, so we moved him to a bed.

When she is in danger of climbing out of it and risks falling and hurting herself. There are childs beds with a side rail to help the little one not fall out but it is closer to the floor than a crib rail and if she did fall out of bed she'd probably be unharmed.

i waited til my daughter was 2 but if she is already climbing out get a big bed for her i never got the toddler bed too expensive cheaper to just get a big bed and put a rail up to prevent her falling out

If she can climb out, then it is time for a toddler bed.

I ASKED MY DOCTOR THE SAME THING AND HE SAID WHEN THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF IT THEMSELVES THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH FOR A TODDLER BED. SO IF SHE IS TRYING TO GET OUT THEN SHE IS MOST LIKELY READY. THEY HAVE SOME TODDLER BEDS THAT HAVE HALF RAILS. THAT IS WHAT I GOT FOR MY BOYS.
