Two missionaries rode up to our house on their bikes and knocked on our door. My dad said to to me "Ah man them again! you answer the door and keep them busy while I go aroud and let the air out of their tires"

It was a hoot!

I don't think it was really very mean, but I am amazed at how hard it must be to be one of their missionaries. I don't agree with the tenets of Mormonism, but I was helping a few Mormon missionaries find an outfit for a sick woman at their church one day at the mall. People stared at them and treated them like freaks. It was surprising to me, because I didn't think they would get so much attention. If felt really uncomfortable, but they seemed OK with it. They were also so grateful and surprised to have someone volunteer to help them, almost like they thought I was going to trick them. While I can't agree with the religion, I did earn a degree of respect for the daily abuse they go through all in the name of God.

That's just too mean (funny, in a really mean way but I don't approve)...either tell them you aren't interested and would like to be taken off their visitation list or set them down for a chat about why you don't accept their religion.

The first approach should keep them from coming back and the second approach gives them a new view to think about.

Ok so in some circles that might not be the polite thing to do but on the other hand its not really polite to show up and some strangers house and push religion at them either so all in all you get what you ask for and if you are going to be where you arent wanted then so be it.

When LDS missionaries drop by, I usually invite them in and we chat for a while.

On more than one occasion, I have had the LDS missionaries agree with me that the God of the Mormon church is different from the God that we see described in the Bible.

Cordially,
John

That is wrong, but yet I'm giggling. I know that missionaries are quiet serious when it comes to recruiting for their church (I mean Gods true church.) But I think they got the hint on how serious you guys are about joining. Have fun, and may some Higher Power bless you! Truuue Dr. True.

Nope, not wrong at all. Ive got my own religion, and Ive got no use for prostelytizing (sp) fools on bikes. That was funny of your Dad. And being Jewish, we have absolutely nothing to talk about anyway.

Almost makes me wish Mormons came out this far ... just so I'd have the opportunity to do something similar.

You seriously did that? You need a life. They weren't trying to bother you, and they won't push it if you ask them to leave. They're all some of the nicest guys (and girls) ever so lay off.

It is wrong and it shows how bigoted you are. They have a right to their religion and you have a right to yours. They feel it is their mission to tell you about LDS, but, they are very nice to go if you say you are not interested. They do not push it on you, as many Christians do.
