I don't wish to find my birth parents, I just want to know my heritage. The state records (California) will not open my file up and give me the information since my birth parents did not sign a release. I think it is wrong that the state take away my birth right.

Cody, how old are you? I think you should talk to your parents and they will help you. My adopted daughter is just finding out alot of this stuff (she has met her birth mother, her birth father is deceased). But she has been so much happier since she's found out some things. Good luck! God Bless.

They won't even give you nonidentifying information? I'm adopted and I got everything but names and addresses. I know physical characteristics (height, weight, etc...), their ages ethnicities and siblings. If the records aren't working, you can always get your DNA tested which can list basic ethnicities, but won't be able to tell you if you're say Irish or German (as in it won't get very specific).
