What Causes Depression?
Depression, like anxiety, is the result of some stressor. Bodily changes occur. Also, changes occur in thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. The same chain of brain events that result in a stress response and anxiety set the stage for depression. Once the stress response is well underway other chemicals called hormones are released to keep the stress response going. Remember, being able to launch a stress response when stressors are present is a good thing.
Oh, spell check is a good thing too ;)

Bipolar disorder which is what it is now called (used to be called manic depression) is a mood disorder which effects a persons mood and is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. In bipolar disorder a person has mood swings from depression to mania which have to last 7 days each to be diagnosed but generally last weeks or months at a time. I developed bipolar when I was 15 and diagnosed at 18, when I was depressed I would sleep constantly, cry, wouldn't leave bed for days, didn't eat, wash, dress, constantly felt suicidal, hopeless and worthless, withdrew myself from family and friends and stopped going to school. This lasted for 6 months. Then I switched into mania when I was constantly full of energy and felt like I was on top of the world I was so happy, didn't sleep for days and if I did I would sleep up to 3 hours only but felt completely awake and full of energy, went out every night abusing alcohol and drugs, got into meaningless relationship, had sex with strangers, had so much confidence, spent every penny I had and even stole from my mum, shop lifted, racing thoughts, aggressive and irritable, psychotic when I would hallucinate and be delusional to the point I stabbed myself and almost my boyfriend, I was constantly doing one thing to the next and I nearly failed college. This lasted for 4 months. Bipolar disorder is something that is very severe and effects your everyday life. I ended up being hospitalised because I was psychotic, hallucinating and delusional. I don't think you have Bipolar, I think you have days when you go back to feeling normal which makes you feel happier making it seem like mood swings when really its you going back and forth between depression and normality. You should discuss this with your doctor, explain your concerns, they will know whats going on and know if you need a medication change. You do not need to stay on medications if you do not like them, just ask for a change.

Anxiety and Depression are very common and very often intertwine with each other. They are both caused by the reuptake of neurons (Eg. seratonin and norepernephrin) that have failed to attach to an axon.
Neurotransmitters held within vesicles in one neuron are released, move across the synaptic space, and attach themselves at the binding sites for particualr neurotransmitters. Specific neurotransmitters can and will influence only those neurons that have receptors for it. When monoamines are released but do not bind to the next neuron, symptoms of depression and anxiety arise.

depression is something which change the whole person.it changes our thoughts, our feelings, etc.Because of depression u wont be interested in doing anything. You wont like to be with your best friends. For me if someone is suffering from depression than he shall stay with his friends and if at home than sit with your parents or any member because if you stay alone ur thoughts will automically change.
