You are, as far as my own personal observations go, correct in thinking that many of the abusive-style cat-haters belong to the lower class. However, do not forget that reasonless cat-haters can belong to any part of society.

I am not speaking about people who don't like catbox smell, or the shed hair all over, or any of that. What I mean is people who talk about putting them through horrid tortures, or who kick them, or swerve to hit them, or do other such nastily cruel things as I can't even begin to imagine.

Much of it seems to stem from a feeling of helplessness. A person, lacking control or direction in their life, and feeling as if they were the world's whipping boy, needs to take out this anger somehow. However, unlike most people, who are taught proper ways to vent, they follow the societal pattern of abusing those beneath you. Their parents likely did not show them that to be on the low end of the totem pole at some point does not mean that you must lose all your morals and ethics, and probably took out their own issues on their children. They are taught no respect for any life besides their own (and are clearly lacking even in that). So, to them, a cat is simply an animal, certainly beneath them, and a viable target for their rage--and they know that most places do not have harsh animal cruelty laws. No person gets fifty years in prison for killing a cat, as he would for killing a human.

Another source happens to be poor education. It is just like when people still believe snakes are slimy and evil, that toads will give you warts, and that rats are always filthy disgusting creatures with rabies. They believe only the very worst about cats, and know none of the advantages, or at the very least, the good things about keeping a cat. (In an odd twist, you can also sometimes relate this to the feeling of powerlessness I mentioned earlier--dogs can be taught to look and be vicious, or tough, or "cool", and will follow any command the owner wants, whereas a cat will flip its tail twice and wander away to eat flies.)

Then you have the people who are truly missing something--some vital part of their conscience, some very important bit of moral training in their life--that abuse animals because "they must". Perhaps they're simply psychotic. Perhaps they're gradually working their way up the evolutionary ladder of killing. Maybe they have no empathy for other living beings. All creatures besides themselves (including humans, eventually) are only toys and pawns to be played with and disposed of at their leisure. And that is the worst kind of person--whether lower, middle, or upper class.

I have noticed that too. It's always the ones you can really tell are on the lower end of the totem pole when it comes to IQ. In the place where I work, it is mostly filled with the lower class "redneck" type people. Every other word coming out of the mouth is "f#$%" and "F3434" that. Even the women! The only reason I work there is to help my family out and also put myself through school because it pays fairly decent for someone my age.
It is heartsickening. I've heard 2 or 3 of them blowing off at different times in the break area about how they hate cats, shoot them, etc.....
Well, if you look into their eyes of these people, if they even bother to make eye contact with you for any reason, you can see the ignorance. No brightness, or light in the eyes at all. You can see the poverty stricken mindset in their eyes....because of their low mentality I suppose, and you can tell they have no other aspirations in life and they are going to be working here until they retire or get fired for showing up drunk or on drugs.
Phenomenal!

I personally am not a cat person but I dont hate them.. I have never noticed anything about "lower" class people disliking them more.. and I dont think people dislike cats because its cool..It may be that they dont like litter boxes in the house.. or if its an outside cat they dont like the awful smell of their business around the house and flowerbeds.

I just think that they have too much attitude. Like sometimes they'll be digging you petting them, and the next they'll freakin attack you for pettin them the same way. My mom's cat is like that. You have to work around the attitude of the cat. Screw that. The animal should have to work around me, thus the DOG is the BEST animal to have as a pet.
Now don't worry, I am not discouraged about having a cat. My daughter wants one so I'll probably be getting one soon. Hopefully it's a laid back kind of kitty. If not, it'll be spending most of it's time in her room!!!

I am not in the "lower class" and I dislike cats. I don't think it's cool, I just don't care for them. Where did you come up with this question? I don't like them because they get into everything, the litter box stinks, and they get hair everywhere. I guess I'm just not a pet person.

i do no longer think of a individual's call is in any respect as substantial as how they behave, what style of a existence they lead. There are those with unattractive names who're staggering human beings and stay staggering lives. yet in my opinion i do no longer look after names derived from alcoholic drinks like: Brandy Margarita or Sherry It in basic terms does not look remarkable. i'm sorry if that's your call, yet i do no longer look after those. I additionally do unlike women names in keeping with meals like Peaches candy Apple (what replaced into Gwyneth Paltrow thinking?!?) i think of human beings could have human sounding names LOL! no longer names like food products. I even have 2 daughters with stunning, unique names that i did no longer get out of a cookbook yet additionally are available and rather stunning. I in basic terms think of human beings would be resourceful without naming their toddler after their famous beverage or snack.

I'm not too sure too.

I guess they simply need to vent their anger somewhere. Some people are just sick in the mind. Or perhaps they're HUGE losers, they don't have the guts to show their anger out on someone else, only cats.

I mean, it's fine to dislike cats, but it's NOT FINE to hate and abuse them.

I love cats.
As for why some feel the need to hate cats, I think it's just pure ignorance-they don't know what they're missing!

because people need something to hate and they're cowards so they take their hate out on things that can't fight back. i love cats and have an adorable chubby kitty that i wouldn't give up for the world. sure cats DO give attitude but that's why it's great to have an assortment of pets, so you can experience different personalities with all of them!!!

Cats (as opposed to dogs) have personality. A dog is basically a ditto-head. You say 'left', he says 'left'. You say 'right', he says 'right'. You say 'jump', he says 'how high?'. A dog is a slave with no voice; he has no character whatsoever. Thus some people dislike cats since they have their own independent personalities (they like to cast a negative label on it by calling it "attitude").
