Paper sizes
Depending on the type of printing and the purpose of the product there are several types of paper sizes.Modern graphically industry knows three types of paper sizes: A, B and C Format A is divided into 10 in the form of A0- A10.Paper A0 has an area of one square meter. When these surfaces are bent over the paper in the middle of the longer side and cut in half, we get two paper A1. The same principle is used to obtain all paper sizes up to 10 A

Here is the basis for the measurements. The scientists in Switzerland or wherever wanted this to be based on the international standard of the Metre.
So, A0 paper is defined as follows: The area shall be exactly one square metre, and the dimensions shall be L (length) and W (width) so that the ratio of L:W shall be exactly the same as the ratio of the NEW length and width, when it is exactly folded in half. The ratio of L:W will always therefore be the same every time you fold it (A0, A1, A2, etc etc). If you solve these equations you will see that the ratio of Length to Width is always Square root of 2. The dimensions therefore of the initial A0 paper will be 1.189207 metres long and 0.840896 metres wide. Approximately. Multiply them together and you get exactly one square metre.

21.0 x 29.7 is an A4 sheet.
Notice one thing: 210 * sqr(2) = 297.
The A3 (larger) takes the length of the A3 as its width, which becomes 297 * sqr(2) = 420, so the A3 is 297 x 420.
In the same order of idea, the A5 sheet take the width of the A4 to become its height, or 210 / sqr(2) = 148.5, so A5 is 210 x 148.5
Clever is it not?
Goes like that from A0 to A8...

Let me explain the thing.
Well the paper comes in many dimensions.
One of them is 23" x 36". The shhet is cut into 2 to 18" x 22" suitable for printing.
The fourth part of this dimension that is 10.5" x 8.5" is A-4.
Convert it to cm by multiplying 2.54 to each one.
