I take the easy way out. At the grocery store in the aisle with the spices and packets of marinades are powdered gravy mixes for biscuits and gravy. All you do is add milk or water. Then fry up some sausage (buy the Jimmy Dean roll sausage) drain the fat and crumble it up, add to the gravy. Get some Grands country style pre made bake at home biscuits in the tube thing and cook them. Put it all together...voila! Tastes really great and fresh!

Biscuits
Sift two cups of self-rising flour. Using a fork, "cut in" 2-3 tablespoons butter, lard or shortening. When all the shortening is incorporated, make a well in the flour and slowly add about two cups milk, until dough is slightly wet and pulls away from sides of bowl. Turn out onto floured counter or table. Flour your hands and biscuit cutter. Fold dough over two-three times (do not overwork or biscuits will become tough!) and flatten out to about the thickness of your hand. Cut biscuits out and place onto greased baking pan. You can place them next to each other, it's perfectly fine! Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until they are slightly golden on top.
Sausage Gravy
1 lb. sausage
2-3 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. Sugar
milk
Over medium heat, crumble sausage and brown. Sift flour into pan and stir with a whisk, creating a roux with the fat rendered from the sausage (some people remove the sausage, I personally don't). Add garlic powder and sugar to roux, add milk, stirring constantly as it comes to a boil. Be careful not to spill as gravy is very hot. Gravy will thicken as it simmers. If it becomes too thick, add more milk. Return sausage to pan if you had removed it.

For the biscuits, use Pillsbury grands
For the gravy, make a white gravy and add some sausage to it. You can use canned white gravy, or try a packet of gravy mix. It's quick and easy.

cook sausage in a pan. remove sausage but leave at least 2 tablespoons of grease in the pan and the craklins or bits of meat stuck to the pan. add 1/4 cup flour and stir to soak all the grease up and keep this moving around the pan. you have just made a roe and is the base of gravy. for white gravy immediatly add milk till thinned out a little and just runnier than you like it. simmer and stir till you have the consistancy you like salt and pepper to taste add sausage and pour on top of split biscuts

1 pound breafast sausage cooked and drained. 3 tablespoons of butter in a med pan, when melted add 2 tablespoons of flour and mix. Keeping it on low heat slowly add 3 to 4 cups of milk stir constantly to prevent lumps. Let simmer till it thickens then add sausage. It is really easy.
