Tell me about your El Monte experience...

It's a small city, but densely populated by minorities--Mexicans, African-Americans, Asians. It is a poor community and has a very high crime rate. A lot of gang-activity and illegal drug sales. It's not a place you would find very pleasurable or friendly. If you are going there, you need to be very aware that it is basically a dangerous place and be on guard. I've lived near El Monte most of my life and would not venture there unless I had to. I'm a streetwise person and my husband is too, and even still he was robbed at gunpoint to his head while in the car at a red light.

This is a huge Hispanic event with over 30 thrill Rides for the adults and kids. With the $6.95 admission all the Rides and the entertainment is free. 2 Stages. one for the kids. A giant midway. Shows and exibits. many commercial venders. A large Food Court with many Mexican food venders, selling different types of Food. The familys are having so much fun that they don't want to leave when it is time to close for the night so we have to turn the lights out so we can get them to go home. We have second and third generation attendies at this event.

It's yukky. I workde at Wells Fargo's call center in El Monte. It's very creepy at night, a lot of gang activity.

Went to truck driving school in El Monte. Lots of good little hole-in-the-wall mexican restaurants.
