I know I just posted a question, but I forgot..and left out something.
My (late) father told me in July 2003, or so, when we were discussing God and the Bible, etc. that he read that when people die, they forget about the people they knew on earth and only know God. He died later that year, December 18th, and was a painfully emotional loss. It still is. Not a day goes by that makes me think what I could have done. But to get to the point, in that discussion, he told me that, and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were? It's been really depressing to think about it the last couple of years.

Another reason, I say it might be true, is because the terrible dreaded disease of "alzheimers" (sorry, I probably mispelled.) Especially when people die after having that disease for years, how do they remember when they are in Heaven? I'm just interested in this.

Dear RamsFan4Life39
Its good to be able to answer you again, So what your father has mentioned has some truth but not totally true.. why am saying that coz when PPL are in heaven they really well be praising our great Lord so they will have no time to do any thing else coz you know, well how can i say it, OK lets say that u r setting in some earthly kings presence and you start to do any thing but concentrating on his talk OR action, now imagine you do that with the presence of God, He is the king of kings and Lord of lords and He is all great and mighty and beautiful so how can u think of any thing else,,,and plz notice that what am saying doesn't mean that the late ones forget,NO they are just focusing on some else that's all

I don't think a book written by man can say what happens to you when you die. Man is flawed, and even if it is supposed to be the word of god, it was still written by man's hand...
Now, if you believe in reincarnation or "soul mates" or any of that spiritual stuff, it is not possible that people simply forget who they knew on earth. What about hauntings? Those people stay because there is something on earth that keeps them there? You should look into Sylvia Browne...she is Christian, and talks all about what happens to people when they die, etc, because she is connected to that plane.
Your father wouldn't forget his son...I don't think (if there is a god) he would be cruel enough to make his "children" forget about the good times they spent being one of his favorite creations.

This is talking about the end of time...not about when people die. It doesn't say that they will forget about us, but that at the end of time God will comfort us and we won't feel the sorrow anymore.
Hopefully you and your dad will be there together!
Revelations 21:
1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.
2 I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.
3 I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
4 He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away."

I can't say it is true because everyone has different beliefs. Some say that people will be reunited after life in paradise. Others will say that they go to heaven. But I have never heard of this belief that people forget their loved ones. God even understands that they can't. I am sorry about your father. I'm pretty certain about one thing that he'd not forget you.

I think that the concept of God and the afterlife is So far beyond us that the teachings and scripture that your father believed don't even come close to the real truth.
If love is the most powerful force in the universe(according to the bible) then How can your dad's love for you be forgotten?

i don't think it means you literally forget your past life. I think it means that heaven is such a wonderful place, the pain of your past life is gone. he hasn't forgotten you
and with alzheimers, remember that in heaven everyone gets a new body, complete and perfect. i think they'll remember the good parts of their life before, but not their sickness

No one can tell you what happens after you die, because when they die, its just that. They can't come back to tell you.
I'm sure your father meant well when he said that to you, but I would suggest that you don't take it to heart. Your father lives in your heart and he is with you everyday.
