Is it likely that the intolerant, the bigots, the fundamentalists will drag all mankind into religious wars that wipe out the human species?

And if we all followed Islam or Judaism or Mormonism there would be no need for war and there would be peace. Sounds simple, doesn't it, John?

Hopefully we find the cure some day.

Some other food for thought that might help, or cause a searing headache.

Pleroma
"Fulness"; a gnostic term used also by St. Paul. Divine world or the abode of gods. Universal space divided into metaphysical AEons.
The word means "fullness". It refers to all existence beyond matter but not including Bythos who is beyond it. In other words it is the world of the Aeons, the heavens or spiritual universe. More on The Pleroma
Bythos
the "Void". Its the "primal ground" and the pre-beginning forefather.
Greek) The depth; chaos, the primeval deep, frequently used by the Gnostics. For example, with Valentinus it was the cosmic source whence emanated two by two the series of aeons. Sometimes it was considered as one member of a primordial cosmic mystic square -- sige (silence), bythos (depth), nous (intellect), and aletheia (truth); sometimes bythos was paired by Gnostics with sige as composing a primordial cosmic binary. Bythos is the name given in certain gnostic writings (and heresiologies) to the monadic source (The Absolute) of the pleroma, the region of light. Bythos is the spiritual source of everything which emanates the pleroma, and could be contrasted to the dark Demiurge (Yaldabaoth) that controls matter.
Demiurge
dĕm'ē-ûrj'
refers to a grand original intelligence who acted to produce the real world, as described in cosmogonies of early peoples and philosophers.
The "Craftsman" or creator of the material world. Usually viewed in a negative fashion. If nothing else, the material is less than the spirit so that the creator is lower than the prime source.
Greek term, meaning "craftsman." The Demiurge is a concept which originates in the thought of Plato (427-347 BC). In his work, Timaeus , the Demiurge is essentially the maker of the physical universe. The notion was acknowledged by Gnosticism as well, as they emphasized the idea of cosmological dualism, or the idea that there is a spiritual realm which is good and pure, and there is a material realm which is evil. ...
Aeons
The Latin word æon means forever. It is derived from the Greek word αίών

Parousia
presence,"
Greek word meaning "coming alongside and remaining with" someone. Describes the Second Coming of Jesus for His own. Used in Matthew 24:3,27,37,39; 1 Thess. 4:15, 5:23, 2 Thess 2:1, James 5:7, 8; 2 Peter 1:16, 3:4; 1 Cor. 15:23.

From the Greek word "parousia," meaning "presence." The second coming when many Christians expect Jesus Christ to return to earth. This is a major focus of most conservative Christians

Most people who have a problem with intolerance are usually not very tolerant of those who don't agree with them...but that's just MY observation.

Because you have a question like this, it leads me to believe that you have MANY questions about "religion". The only way I can think of to answer this question is with another question: What is "religion"?

Can religion wipe out all humans? No! Can "religions people" wipe out all humans? Possibly. That would depend on the religion and the capacity (for lack of a better term) of this "religious" person. I guess only time will tell.

human over population will wipe us out first.. but your close..

the United Nations has said long ago that 5 BILLION is a sustainable population.. many scientists argue that 500 MILLION would be better.. however we are currently at over 6.5 BILLION - its only a matter of time before we break the camels back.. its already said that at the current growth rate within 100 years we will have to enforce manditory death sentenses for people who reach certain ages as a way to control growth

That is exactly what religion is. People stopped worshiping God and started worshiping the creation, more or less. They stopped worrying about what God said and started worrying about what man "thought" God said. That is why there are so many religions in the world. If people would just read the Bible and let God tell them what it said and not the leader of a religion, people would be much more understanding and considerate of others. At least that is my humble opinion of the matter.

Maybe, but it seems more likely that patriotism is the disease that will do us all in. There would be no wars, no nukes, no serious world problems if not for out tendency to submit to authority.

Religion is simply another aspect of that same tendency.

yes , it is the worst type of disease for humans. Its some sort of a canser like thing which our parents will implant when we were born. Which will eventually run inside our brain and finally rule us , build eager .. . very dangerous type of disease.

Not possible.

More like: probable. Some diehard nutjobs are so convinced it is the "end times" I worry that they will fulfill their own retarded prophecy.

Although as we have people rejecting religion left & right, hopefully there is hope for our society.

It sure would make sense- if you believe there's going to be a Judgement Day. I can't imagine a senario that God would find any more disgusting. Here's hoping we're both wrong.

I think it is very possible and probable. It is such a paradox to fight in the name of god-as the bible and all such things were designed to bring order to mankind.
