We went to a restaraunt and only had chips and salsa. The total was less than 5 dollars. I like the guy but can't help but be turned of by his cheapskate ways. We were the only ones in the restaraunt not ordering a meal. It was kinda embarassing.

This was our third date. The first date was ok because it was our first meeting, so coffee was fine. The second was one dollar menu item and then this third one.

Should the total cost of the date actually matter when you're trying to get to know someone? If you like each other's company and are having fun who cares what the cost of it is? My wife and have fun together and sometimes I spend a small fortune while other times I get off spending less than 5 bucks. The whole point of dating should be the people invovled not the amount of money spent.

If he's broke he should be more creative, like taking a couple of bikes and kites and a picnic dinner to a park. Or, rent a romantic movie and invite you over and cook you dinner himself. Better yet, drive outside of the city at night with a couple of lawn chairs and a cheap bottle of wine and a CD player so you can look at the stars and chat to some soft jazz.

If he's trying to skimp on the old dinner & a movie thing, don't go out with him again. Personality is WAY more important than cash. But it sounds like this one doesn't have either.

jetsetsoaper could not be more wrong. If he was short on cash, he should not have set up a date that required money. I have been in the situation where I wanted to take a girl out but hadn't gotten paid yet, so I found low cost things to do that were still fun. When you take a girl out you are trying to send a message to her, by taking you to a restaurant and spending less than 5 bucks, his message was that he either doesn't care about you, is incredibly cheap, is incredibly stupid, or all of the above.

he's a tight wad, or maybe he was just really broke that week and didn't want to admit it, i'd give him another chance and if he does it again , ditch him..lol I once went on a date and the guy ordered one meal of chips and dips for us to share. He was like that a few other times too so it didn't last.

Not necessarily, maybe he is a free spirit, oblivious to the shackles of the material world, an ethereal soul.Or maybe the cheap bastard didn't have a clear shot at his mom's purse all day.

If you ask the same questions everytime, you're going to get the same answers. Nearly all your recent questions have been about the same thing. Just dump him if you're not interested in the advice that all the kind people here have offered! Otherwise it just looks like your attention-seeking!

I hope it works out for you.

Yes, that's a very cheap date! I think I would have ordered and paid for the meal if he didn't have the money to pay for it. Ask him if he's having money problems, maybe he wanted to take you out and that's all he could afford.

Definitely a cheap date! I would have second thoughts about going out with him again. Wait...I change my mind. I wouldn't go out with him on a second date. When you went to the restaurant, you should have ordered more food and asked for separate cheques!
