Is that a Bush LOTR man.....hummmmmmmmmm
I don't know anything about Atheists.Don't know if they do commit suicide more...But maybe if it is true the reason could be is they don't believe in a life after death so they have nothing to lose. A person that believes would be to scared to kills themsleves because some are told you will go to hell if you commit suicide...Just me thinking I have no proof that they do commit suicide more tho.

Since you didn't provide a source for your claim, I did some research myself online and found it is no higher than suicide rates committed by the religious. Didn't you bother to do this or are you just making assumptions about those you deem as sinful? I did find one interesting fact though, the divorce rate is higher in the Bible Belt than any other area of our country. Why do you think that is? Hmm...doesn't divorce = sin in your religion as well? Just curious.

1. They don't, in fact- quite the opposite.
2. Atheism doesn't equal sin. What kind of an omnipotent, all-powerful god would be so self-centered and insecure as to want we lowly humans to believe in him and pray to him every day.
just doesn't make sense.
And if he does exist... boy does he have a wickedly nasty sense of humor. There's way too much sensless suffering on this planet to believe that the god described by the Judeo/Christian/Islamic teachings could exist.

I attribute it to the lack of a social community like a church.
It is the only good thing I have to say about churches.
Suicide is also a way to end it for an atheist when they are tired of going on. for the theist it is not an end all and they have a fear of punishment for it in the next life. Religion is a comfort against the fear of death, it only make sense that a fear of afterlife would keep you from ending your life.

Why not?
Go check some statistics and you'll find it's not significantly more than the general population.

I am not aware of any studies showing a significantly higher incidence of suicide amongst individuals who did not profess to some form of theistic doctrine. Please cite sources.

Because they don't believe what the consequences will be if they do it! They'll see when they get to the other side.
