WE NEED A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATION...IT COULD BE A SURGE PROTECTOR THAT NEEDS TO BE RESET, A LIGHT SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE PLUG MAY NEED TO BE FLIPPED ON...

More info is definitely needed to diagnose. But in the meantime...

If the red power indicator turns off then there is some interruption of power that is either due to some interference, a faulty part, or a component designed to shut the tv off under certain conditions.

Like someone here said, it could be an overheated bulb if you have a projection TV but usually the indicator light would still be functioning, perhaps in a different colour. Otherwise, check all electrical connections: power bar and surge protector, circuit breaker for outlet, any other intermediary apparatus. It could also be a blown fuse inside the tv set. You could open it up and see, however, if you are a novice at this I wouldn't recommend it. Take it to a repair shop instead.

The problem has multiple possible answers ! Start at the source ,,is mains electricity available to the Tv ? if yes then is the on/off switch ok ? if ok then how about the mains fuse ? . A short cut to test all these at one fell swoop . To be safe unplug the Tv from the mains and remove the back cover, now look at the heavey coils of wire that are round the bowl of the CRT follow where the coils are plugged in to the main board, close to the plug will be a 2 or may be 3 leg device, this is the degauss thermister which only operates for a second when set is switched on from cold ! It should be quite warm to the touch, if it is then it means that all things mentioned previously are good ! ie , mains electric, on/off switch and mains fuse !.There are a good many simple tests you can make without test equipment but you also require a bit of knowledge too. Thats a start so see how you go on, Good luck

It could be numerous problems. Here is another suggestion try unplugging the TV for a couple of minutes. Plug it back in and see if it works. If it is a projection TV that has a bulb, it might need to be replaced. Check outlet.

it's a long shot but try unplugging it for twenty minutes then try it again, if not, look for a tv shop that gives free estimates, then you will know whats wrong upfront and can decide what to do
