A recent study showed that sodas, diet or regular, hold fat on the body. No sodas are good for you. Drink water, it literally carries the fat away when you are exercising and eating healthy. Your body needs to be hydrated with pure water daily. Sodas are high in sugar, which is one of the worst things for your body.

People gain weight when their daily caloric intake exceeds the expended calories. Diet sodas have less calories, therefore are less likely to cause weight gain. Now fat is formed when your body needs to store the excess calories that your body has ingestested. Sugars are converted into fat which stores energy better over longer time. Diet sodas tend to use sugar substitues like sucrose (splenda), aspartine (sweet&low), equal, stevia, etc. Your body does not see it as a sugar, so in moderations, it should not cause you to get fat. Overtime, too much consumption of anything is bad for you.

Drinking alot of diet soda isn't good for you. Pop has sugars that can put the weight on and salt in it that makes you retain fluids. The other night on the City News, they said people could loose up to 15 lbs a year if they cut back on how much pop they consumed.

Diet sodas can actually be even worse for you than regular ones, but in either case they are both very bad for you. Diet sodas are carbonated more than the regular ones to hide their flavor(cause its not as good). If you are actually concerned with health and weight you would drink water instead, or teas and coffee as long as you don't put too much sugary stuff in them.

No. Diet soda has no sugar and therefore no calories or carbs.
You can actually lose a good bit of weight by just switching to diet drinks and water.

There are lots of theories out there about diet soda still making you gain or keep weight on, but since there are no calories, it's still a better bet then regular cola.

The worse thing - other than carbonation - in Diet soda drinks is the ASPARTAME or NUTRA SWEET - it has the same properties as MSG and actually induces you to gain weight and wreaks havoc for diabetic's blood sugar levels.
Stevia is the natural sweetening alternative. Splenda hasn't been proven to be damaging yet, but hey, it's only been around for a few years!
