I read in a medical journal 13+ years ago that chicken pox can cause easy bruising the day before the first pustule appears. It was in some medical journal. I didn't copy the article and soon wished I had, because I never saw it again.

Thanks, Curious Cook--but your connection doesn't say anything about bruising.

My then-infant daughter got a bad bruise on her back. It's a long story, but social services took her away from us for a week, until we got a doctor's report that proved the pediatrician was lying about her condition. We got her back and were "unfounded" the next month. We are convinced the chicken pox left her vulnerable to bruising, but we would like the documentation the shows it's possible. Although it is now a moot issue (she's 14 and quite healthy), it is still an open issue, emotionally, for us.

Thank you to the other two who gave me anecdotal evidence. It's nice to know this is not uncommon.

I would love more input!

Hopefully, this is a 13 year issue...if you did not cause the bruising, then let it go.

...I am not aware of Chicken Pox causing bruising, however, there are a multiplicity of medical conditions which could of caused it....

....You can no longer sue regarding this, so I would put this behind you....I know know you are glad she is in your life!

Chickenpox is transmitted to others through fluid from broken blisters as well as by coughing or sneezing. The average
incubation period for chickenpox is 10 to 20 days (the time betweenexposure to the virus and the onset of illness). The child can bruise easily during the incubation period.
