Yeah, let everyone come up with a good idea and in 200 years time,the gift of giving a gold bracelet to a Bat Mitzvah what ever it is, will become a religious belief too.lol.

If you're not familiar with the culture, you should prolly steer clear of the religious gifts, like a yad or shofar or something. If you're short on time, I'd say a check is always nice. Sure, it's not the most sentimental gift you'll ever get, but I know she'll appreciate it. And please, whatever you do, do NOT get her a gift certificate. I literally had hundreds of dollars, if not over a thousand, in gift certificates after my Bar Mitz, most to book stores. I'm a smart guy, so people assume I read a lot. Not $1000 worth of books though.
