Definitely, you've been listening to Air America too much. You should of followed up your list of draft dodging republicans with a list of war hero democrats - and an opposing list could just as easily be written - for both parties. Hell, the beautiful people don't serve in the military - especially in a hostile area!

The day after FDR declared war on Japan, every eligible man on my father's side of the family signed up for military service. My father was only 17 so his parents had to sign for him. He joined the Navy. They were all conservatives.

I think a lot of repubs are hypocrites, but you left out McCain. My own sense is that he did his duty honorably and got shot up and tortured for it. that seems like enough to me.

There are some dems who talk smack, and some dems who served honorably and don't make hay out of it.

One thing I will say: pick either side if you want, but I believe that a president is slower to go to war if he's been there personally, and has a clearer sense of purpose when (s)he does send troops.
