I've heard many different things about protein. Some people say you can't digest more then 30 grams of protein a day. Other people say get at least 1 gram for every pound you weigh. Other people say something different entirely? Do I buy the protein powder/shakes or just eat lots of eggs, peanut butter, fish and meat? What should I do. I've been working out seriously for about 6 months now, although on and off I've been lifting for about 4 years. I see huge results, but I wonder if I could get even better results or am I just being greedy. I eat lots of meat and peanut butter with some eggs in my diet. How does that sound?

No matter how much you work out, you really don't need more than about 8 ounces of protein a day, and eating more will not help you see better results. Fish and chicken are lower in cholesterol than eggs and red meat, but if you don't have a problem with cholesterol or triglycerides, red meat and eggs are OK too as part of a balanced diet. Non meat products (soy, nuts, and dairy) can also be substituted.

your body will digest all the protein u eat in a day not just 30 grams. aim for at least 1 gram per lb of weight for protein and 2-3 grams of carbs ( depending on metabolism ). if your building muscle now than just keep your diet the same. if it aint broke than u cant fix it. when u stop growing add 300-500 cals a day for 6 weeks. if that kick starts growth again than stay there. continue this process for as long as u lift. make sure that your only gaining muscle and not fat. any more than 1-2 lbs a month is probably fat. stick w/ whole foods like chicken, fish, eggs, milk, cottage cheese, red meat, oatmeal, brown rice, red potatoes, whole wheat bread. stay away from supplements if your already growing and u if try them stick w/ the basics like whey protein, creatine, glutamine, arginine, multivitamins. and dont abuse them. there only safe if u take them properly.
