The Old Testament was written before the birth of Jesus and has a lot of history, phropecy, and inspiration for us. The New Testament was written about 400 years after Jesus death. It tells about Jesus life, more history for us, and the story of the time of the end. And it's an awesome story! God has walked with us since the beginning of time but people just don't know God becuase they don't know what the Bible says, they listen to preachers and other humans dictate what is right and wrong. Get to know God for yourself and read His word. If you are truly wanting to understand, God will give you the wisdom you need. Go to www.wake-up.org and order the free book on Revelations by Larry Wilson. He will help you to study and understand Revelations. God bless you.

The Old Testament is really the Hebrew Scriptures. It is the written history of the Jews. Abraham's descendants.
All through it, these scriptures describe a deliverer who will come to these people and save them.
When Jesus came He said that He was that deliverer. Not from Roman bondage, but from sin because of His sacrificial death which was to come.
Many believed Him. Some of those who did kept a record of His life and ministry. Then others who came after explained His life and ministry. That is the New Testament.

400 years. They had written copies of the books of the OT. and they also shared verbally. It was the responsibility of the mother to teach her children the scriptures and then when they turned 12 or 13 they went to the synagogue to learn more from the priests and elders. Scriptures were read publicly to the people from the temple steps. The Bible records that happening several times. God often made Himself real to some Godly people such as Moses and Noah and Abraham, and David and the prophets and they spoke to the people what God had shared with them and often they wrote it down too.

Old testament was written by jews
New testament was written by Christians.
You Can see the God's Character changes from old to new testament
The God On the old testament? Just like the Gods in the Greek, Egypt, Chinese Mythology. He need be worshiped, and need some blood for sacrifice

You should read them yourself and see.
To outside observers (IE. not Jewish, Christian, or Muslim) it seems like two very different Gods are being described. The God of the Old Testament is very personally involved with his prophets, and is a very terrible (even genocidal) enemy of the non-Jews. The God of the New Testament doesn't even talk to his own son Jesus, but is a God of Forgiveness and Peace.
This enormous discrepancy is what made me a skeptic.

The earliest parts of the Old Testament are likely to have been written as early as 3000 BC. Parts of these were likely compiled into the first few books of the Old Testament.
The first 5 books (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) were written/ compiled about 1500 BC.
The rest of the books were written through the centuries up to about 400 BC.
The latest Old Testament book was written about 400 BC (the book of Malachi).
Cordially,
John

The OT was all leading up to the birth and life of Christ Jesus. The NT is about how Christ fulfilled the OT. We now through Jesus live in total freedom. The OT was all about the law, Christ Jesus bought us with His blood.
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
The yoke of bondage is the law. But we live in freedom. Bless you.

Old testament is the old Jewish book that tells the stories of creation, Adam and Eve, Abraham, Noah and the ark, Moses, and all those stories.
The new testament tells of the coming of Jesus and his life, as well as books written by his disciples documenting their encounters with Christ, as well as their own teachings.
