I do that if I am really nervous or upset about something. It hits when you're trying to relax. See a doctor about it, and talk to them if you have anxiety.

Sounds like an inner ear infection.
While a middle ear infection causes a good deal of pain, an inner ear infection can go unnoticed until you experience something like you've described. The fluid within the inner ear is playing havoc with your equillibrium so when you lay down, your brain is getting mixed signals...you know you're laying flat but the inner ear is sending signals that you're still upright or in some other position; hence the nausea.
I'd definitely head over to a clinic or your doc's office and have them take a look. If that's all it is you'll be given a prescription for some antibiotics and it should start to clear up within a few days to a week. Don't put it off though, inner ear infections can do permanent damage if left unchecked.

I am not a doctor, so I can only take a guess, but does this happen only when you go to bed or also when you stand up? Does it get better when you change your position? Do you also feel dizzy or have vertigo? If so, it could be positional vertigo, a disorder of the inner ear that gives you the sensation of movement or spinning when you move your head or hold it in a certain position, and it can cause nausea and vomiting. I think it is better to see a doctor though.

Sometimes I have the same problem. Try eating a banana before you go to bed or what works for me best is I figured my head is rushing with 5 million thoughts at night which makes my stomach and head hurt so I do about 20 crunches at night and it helps relieve my stress, then when I lay down I'm tired and I don't think about anything. It took about 3 weeks before it actually started to work.

Maybe your body is telling you something... Like dont sleep lol. I personaly believe it is 100% possible for the human race to evolve somehow beyond the need for sleep. I myself like sleep so I take meds to help me go to sleep but I have stayed up for like 5 days strait and it felt great better then I had ever before. Not suggesting anyone do this unless you really feel like tempting the fates.

You might be pregnant. My sister in law gets really ill at night vs the typical morning sickness...So, go have a pregnancy test done. Especially if you have been doing the "tango" in the sheets....

Maybe you're pregnant....having some psychological adversity to the dark.....are harboring some kind of parasite in your system....or your home has a minor gas or sewage leak that's making you nauseous. Does this happen regardless of where you're sleeping?

Like the first person that answer said, you should check with a doctor. Most likely you have a stomach flu or something like that... but I would go get it checked out just in case.

maybe you have a hiatel hernea. this mean a part of your stomach has branched off from the other part, and it causes you to feel sick or even to throw up. do you get heartburn alot? if so then its that or acid reflux.
