Tonight I was treated in the ER for an extreme migraine. They gave me 4mg Dilaudid and Zofran. It made me feel completely better, but it made me really itchy. Before I left they checked me for a rash to see if I was allergic, but I don’t have a rash. Now at home I am so itchy and scratching so much, especially my face my skin is starting to get sore.
Also I can’t stop throwing up. They gave me Zofran for nausea at the hospital. My headache is completely gone, but I keep running to the bathroom to vomit. I don’t understand why I’m feeling this way. I’ve been sipping on ginger ale since that usually helps, but it's not. I’m going nuts!
Has anyone experienced any of this and have home remedies (since it’s late and stores are closed) to feel better?
Thanks!

call their nurse hot-line....they may be able to tell you if there is anything that can be done at home.
the vomiting is serious, especially if you're not kneeling!!! you could blow a blood vessel and have a stroke or die. the itching is weird and says that you are reacting to the meds for the migraine. it may not be that unusual though, but you have to get over the vomiting. they have stuff that will stop that too but it may not be good to use with all that you've already had. better call quick!
Good Luck, and do kneel to take the pressure off your brain!!!

If you are vomitting, don't eat or drink anything for 30 minutes after you throw up. Than try drinking the ginger ale. If you stomache is upset, let it settle. When you drink you are mixing up the stomache juices and you start to vomit. To remedy the itchiness, if you have some hydrocortesone, try that. Or try using oatmeal. You could take an oatmeal bath (just add the oatmeal to your bathwater, or put it on as a paste. I hope this helps.
Maybe you should call a doctor or go back to the ER... if it is really bad.

I have not experienced this before from medication but I know ppl who have and I have had allergic reactions and my skin gets all itchy and I get hives. It really sounds like an allergic reaction and you should call the ER back again or have someone do it for you and tell them your symptoms. An allergic reaction is nothing to play with. Since your headache is gone I don't think the nausea is from the migraine so it must be from the medicine. You went to the ER to feel better you should not feel worse. Sorry to say you may need to go back again. It is also good to know what medications you are allergic to for future reference so calling or going back to the ER should deem helpful.

For the itching you can try benadryl or even claritin or zyrtec or any other anti-histamine, calmine lotion can relieve itching as well, a thin coat of cortisone might be helpful. As for the vomitting, I'm guessing that is from the migraine itself. I don't have any ideas for the nausea except to stay in a dark room with minimal stimulation.

itchiness even without rash sounds like an allergic reaction. go to the doctor immediately, to the emergency room if a doctor is otherwise unavailable.
they'll probably give you epinephrine and then you won't be taking more dilaudid in the future.

I would get myself right back to the ER immediately. I find it strange that the doctor gave you "Dilaudid", as it it not normal to prescribe this pain drug for extreme migraine. Plus "Dilaudid", is known to have interactions with, "Zofran" Antiemetics (drugs that prevent or lessen nausea and vomiting such as Compazine and Phenergan.
Wish you all the best

i would call back to the er the vomiting maybe caused from irritation to your stomach but the itching rash i would be worried about , read your paperwork from your prescriptions and see if a rash is caused by allergic reaction that is what is sounds like to me

That sounds like a bad reaction to the drugs. Go back to the ER and get them to check you out again.

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

You should probably return to the ER. It sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to either just one of the medications or it is the combination of medications.
