many american's philosophy is "love it or leave it"

of course they are reffering to people in america who complain too much, therefore should leave since they are unsatisfied

well, when (legal) mexicans come into the united states and wave mexican flags (which is completely legal, within their rights, and not against the law), speak spanish, spread their culture, religion, and heritage, why do people complain about this?

this is america! the melting pot for all races. of course a group of people who come from another land are gonna bring their culture and some of their country with them.

and yet, so many people complain that america needs to be rid of a lot or all of "mexico"

so my question is, isn't it true that since america is now odopting some of mexico's style, it has become part of america? and those complaining should either love it or leave it?

Firstly I want to say that my family came from immigrants from Germany , Sweden, Italy and Poland and they had to go through alot of b.s. to get into this counry and that is how I think it should be for everone now. I have no problems with mexico coming in legally, but when the illeagals want to sing the Star Spangled Banner in spanish I have a problem, they are in America- language - speak it! In your own home speak what you want! My children should not be forced into spanish classes 1-2 hours a week in the first grade when the spanish are still learning in spanish. I know it is benificial , but not fair. It seems the the illegals complain too much about the rights of children they have here to become citizens, knowing they could be deported, YOU knew it could happen , so why do it? YOU SPLIT YOUR FAMILY UP! NOT THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT

Maybe you just don't understand Americans. A bitchy American is a happy American. That is part of the American culture. We are never and never should be satisfied with anything. When we become satisfied, we become stagnant. Many immigrants speak their native language, but usually in their own homes, or when they are with friends and family. Most Canadian immigrants would not try to speak French when in the US, because they know we don't speak French. Bringing ones heritage here is fine, where I grew up there were festivals all summer long, Italian festivals, Chech festivals, Polish festivals, etc. We would enjopy the different foods, dances, traditions. But it seems to me that when some people these days have a festival, it is usually a protest type of thing, and everybody plays the race card, or complains about all the things they hate about our country. And to those people I say, If you don't like it, get the hell out. I want my country back. I want to enjoy myself again. I would love to go to festivals again, but some people give me the feeling that I will receive a knifeblade to the abdomen if crash your party. You don't welcome people and invite them to share in your heritage, and sample the things that make you proud of your motherland. We welcomed you to live in and share the things that we love, can't you do the same?

I haven't seen legal Mexicans waving their flags it has been the illegal one's that are living here, they are the ones that were marching in the streets, and showing their so call Mexican pride, pride in what that their country wants to get rid of them, all the things their country has done for them, name a few for me? And I don't see the United States taking on Mexican culture or style, no one wants to be Mexican all other people have their own culture form their own heritage and have long since assimilated and love this country and wave the American flag. It is just the illegals that need to go home, that is who we are complaining about. You are full of beans.

Good point, people on this site say "I am completely fine with Mexicans, as long as they are in this country legally" but they also complain about assimilation. I am not against diversity, or people waving their flag, or showing their heritage. Also, a legal immigrant, may not even be a citizen, it may be a person with a permanent resident card, or a visa. So if America is not what they consider their country, yet they are "legal" are you ok with them showing their heritage? I am. I bet most are not.

you are right we still call ourselves Mexican instead of American.....can you blame us, It's racist people that have reminded me all my life that I'm not American, I'm just Mexican.....I remember being in the 4th grade filling out a simple quiz. when asked about nationality, I chose American, only to have my very own teacher come up to me later and tell me that I made a mistake and that I had to put Mexican. As a Mexican American you have no idea the racism I had to, and still do endure, just for being an AMERICAN!. Yet I still am proud of both being an American, and of my ancestry..........So yes I will display the Mexican flag proudly, not as a symble of some corrupt government, but as a symble of my people, Just as I do the American flag, not as a symble of this government, but as a symble of our freedom and of those who have fought for that freedom. Think of me as you wish, but like it or not, I am an American!, and I have the right to express myself as I wish. What style is America adolting from Mexico? If you say there language you are wrong cause our president sign a law which make english the prefer language. And from what I see where I live at there are less sign now in spanish because of it.
