I'm pretty sure is the natural scent of one's breath that is unattractive to a dog's sensitive nose.

But when the dog sticks out its nose while in a car (especially when its moving), its senses are opened up to a wide variety of scents and smells that it may have not sensed before or may enjoy the scent of.

There could always be the question of trying new things. For a dog, it may be flexing its most valuable asset, its nose.

Hope i answered your question correctly!

Sticking their heads out the window is their choice.

Having someone blow in their face is an action being DONE
to them, no choice there.

Most puppies and young dogs will take your blowing in their face as a playful thing, get excited, and initiate a game.

More mature dogs will, depending on their personality and confidence level, take it as either aggression on your part and back away, aggression on your part and respond in kind, or a playful act and initiate a game.

In any case, unless you know your dog well and know s/he'll think you want to play, I'd not blow in a dog's face ;])

i think dogs know that you're teasing them when you blow in their face, so of course they're going to be mad. they like the constant air in their face (not just a blow), along with the array of smells and sights that go along with sticking their head out the window.

I think it is because when you blow in their face, they smell stinky human breath. My dog actually get very hyper when I blow in his face. He'll start jumping around and wanting to play

Because your breath smells a lot worse than what they're sniffing in the wind.
