I was a line service technician for awhile. I've fueld everything from cessna 152' all the way up to Antonov AN-124's. As some one mentioned earlier, you do work in all different types of weather conditions. It's not too bad beyond that. I enjoyed it. I would do it again. It awesome when the sun was out and the temperature was moderate. acctually really enjoyable if you like working outdoors. ...... well at least for me it was, some people may disagree because of all the noise and some people don't like the smell of jet exhaust. You can get a pretty good whifg of it if the APU is running and the wind is blowing just right. I would say the worst part of the job was on summer says when we got really busy. Customers calling for fuel on opposite sides of the airfield and wanting it right now. I got used to people being angry at me cause I wasn't there within 3 minutes of them calling. People skills come in handy. Of corse that was usually when I was driving the AvGas truck and fueling the general aviation aircraft. like cessna's, piper's, and piston beechcraft.

Pretty much every large airport has several FBO's (Fixed Based Operators), they are always looking for refuelers. Pay isn't the best, unless u work for ASIG (Aircraft Service International Group, they fuel airliners at the country's biggest airports). You're outside in all elements, all day, always busy. I will say its never boring.

It depends on what you consider hard work. You will have to work in all types of weather conditions. If you work at a busy airport you will be fueling airplanes almost constantly. Fuelers are usually paid hourly. I'm not sure how much typical pay for a fueler is.

The pay is not very good at most FBOs if you're a fueler.

You will come home with fuel all over your clothes. Jet fuel smells horrible on clothing.
