It’s a really primitive way of conceiving god, the all creator. If you HAVE TO believe in a god, please come up with something better already, we’ve been out of the caves a long time now…

whatever dude ...its all because ppl need to see visual things. WE are a visual society, otherwise why would you get an aviator as your image......???

You are quite correct, except it's to late, the systems are set. I mean in stone. Humans could no more rethink and get along now - than we could stop spitting into the wind. We're stuck with being as we are. Humans can improve the tools they use, but changing time honored thoughts - next to impossible; respected thoughts by our forefathers, would somehow be demeaned if changed. How, I don't know .
Someday humans will have to understand that they have grown - and stop teaching/honoring thoughts that are out dated by our very growth.
That day is a long way off.
Good question though. Keep asking these hard questions.

Unfortunately it's stated in the bible - the largest group of followers use - that we were created in GODs image, so people will never conceive of GOD as anything other than human looking. We are stuck to think that "image" is our body, not our mind. Also that GOD is a realist - not a surrealist sculptor.
Another thought is humans habit of personalizing everything (pets, wild animals, machines, you name it) - It must bring a sense of closeness with that animal, whatever. So, closeness to GOD - is a good thing, except GOD is not human, that's the hard part.

I don't HAVE to believe in God I just do, how self worthing thinking anyone could be in the great image of God WE are in the image of him because he said so. I don't think you have been in the cave long enough, maybe your choice would be more in the image of a cave man wow that is a great way to think, I don't understand why it upsets people that put down our Lord and make rude comments when they don't even know him.

When someone creates God in their own image, they are making a graven image of God. The second Commandment say: Thou shall not make any graven images. When you need a god, look into the Bible, and come up with The God.

I do believe that the accepted truth is that God made us in His image, not the other way around. Therefore, if anyone is being stupid, it would be you. We were only created in His image.

Us muslims believe in one God, Allah, the unique, not like anything else, he's not the father of anything, he's not the son of anything, not similar to anything, nor related to anyone, yet He is not heedless and inconsiderate of His creation. He is their shelter and savior. Neither is He begotten by anyone, nor does He beget. And no one is even close to being equal to Him. He has no partners. Just the observation that things exist, that there is a creation, is a proof of God. You can't have a creation without a creator.

Not too sure what you mean. If you mean that people try to understand God without really understanding, oh.
It's called Anthropomorphism.
If you mean that people should come up with something other than what the Bible describes Him as, good luck, but you are wasting your time. He doesn't change. He said so.

in my opinion its very stupid but we do it anyway like we percieve jesus as a white guy with a beard and long hair dont you think thats personalizing god in our own image? and a lot of people also percieve god as an old guy with a white beard with a golden scepter so were doing it again right there

but WE are the center of the universe so why not. all of the planets revolve around us and we are the only ones with souls. animals are just for eating. god is a mirror image of us and that is just how it is. (and no we are not a mirror image of god for he is imaginary)

To be fair, if they assume the bible is true as their first premise, and then read the "God made us all in his image" they're OBLIGATED to personalize god.
