i was building a tree house tuesday when i hit my finger with a hammer. i wasent really worryed at first but it is geting almost completly black. is it going to fall off and if it is,how fast! because school starts soon and i dont want any inpresions that im goth or something on the first day LOL

My pinky nail did that about 2 months ago because I accidentally shut it in my desk drawer at work...it's still like that, just growing out normally. If school starts and it's still like that just throw a bandaid on top of it and call it good. :D

It might fall off but it's just as likely not to. Did you smash the full nail or just part? It'll take a long while for the black part (blood) to work its way to the tip of the nail and finally be gone. I'd recommend you wear a bandaid or white tape on that finger till it's back to normal since you're concerned about appearances.
Or you could just tell anyone that gives you a hard time about being goth to grow up and ignore them.

No, I think it's just a part of the healing process like how bruises turn different colors as they heal. Your finger isn't going to fall off dear, no worries. I agree with the bandaid thing though...sounds like a good idea. Your finger would fall off if it wasn't getting any blood to it and the way you can tell if your finger isn't getting blood, is if it's numb.

I had a finger slammed in a car door years ago. It hurt like heck and broke the finger. The nail did turn black and come off. I grew a new nail - and you probably will too. It will take time to heal.

You have broken a blood vessal under your nail. I hate those. It will look weird for a few weeks but your nail will grow and it will go away. Don't worry too much. Just wear a band-aid if it bother syou. You could show it to a doctor too if you are really worried.

your fingernail is going to fall off and a new one will grow back. it isnt the end of the world.
