Everybody has bipolar depression. Some people treat it and some people leave it to drugs to treat. Bipolar depression is an exaggerated version of mood swing created by the pharmaceutical industry to make millions. If i were you I would participate in positive activities, stay away from anything or people that bring you down, until you are fully stable with yousrelf and know how to treat whateve ryou have. Listen to Anthony Robbins and other motivational speakers, stare at yourself in the mirror and smile (smiles trigger chemical responses in the brain that result in happy feelings). It doesnt look like you want to take the drug route, I wouldn't either. The solution is always within. I'm by no means a doctor, just another average joe. Talk to other people, if you look at the statistics of people who take prozac due to their depression, they are not always happier, in fact many of them end up more depressed. EXERCISE, DO IT 2-3 HOURS A DAY IF YOU HAVE TO. IT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

My mother is 63 years old and has battling bipolar all her life. I found that when stress levels are up her moods and behavior are totally different. Also she takes medication everyday to keep her on the right track. If she stops taking the medication she goes down hill into a depression stage that takes days or longer to come back from. You need to talk to a doctor about it before it becomes a problem. Good Luck.

I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder fairly recently. I chose totake medication because I could not manage my symptoms even with other changes to lifestyle and it has helped me immensly. I'd like to be off meds one day, but that's not a realistic option right now.
I do not think meds are a temporary solution, they can be taken as long as they are needed.
However, I don't think medication is the only answer. Many people control their illness through a strict and healthy lifestyle. Avoiding drugs, including alcohol, nicotine, and caffiene is a great place to start. Daily exercise actually releases the same sorts of hormones that medications can. Meditation and techniques of relaxation can be very helpful as well, and 12 step groups like Emotions Anonymous can be a great help.

I think medication leads to more medication. The only way to fix depression is to drink vodka and pass out.

If you're not currently seeing a therapist, I strongly suggest you start doing so at once. You need someone to talk to. I hope you get the help you so seriously need. Good luck.

Medication will help you, you should call the MHMR in your area. Taking Fish Oil capsules helps too, I've heard.

Best thing is to see a doctor. Do not rely on advice from a site such as this when you should see a professional.
