Zinc lozenges dissolved in the mouth 5 times a day, taken from first onset of symptoms, will shorten the duration of a cold... study was done at the Cleveland Clinic a few years ago.

Taking vitamin C at about 0.5 - 1 g daily is good for prevention, but don't know of evidence that increasing the dose acutely for a cold has much impact.

Take some Tylenol Severe Cold before going to bed tonight, drink a lot of orange juice or take vitamin C pills and eat yogurt for the next few days....not the fat-free or low fat kind! You want the fat in the yogurt to kill the sickness.

take some tylenol or advil to help the throat pain ease up. also, try taking zinc (you can buy lozenges at any pharmacy, walmart, health food store, etc) and vitamin C...drink lots of juice, especially orange juice. these two vitamins may help the cold to subside. stay well hydrated, and REST! make sure you wash your hands very well to prevent the cold from infecting others as well.

I take 2000 mg/day of Vitamin C until the sore throat goes away, and it usually doesn't turn into a cold then.

Start downing vitamin c tablets and eccanacia (sp). Both are available at the grocery or pharmacy. And drink lots of water to help flush it out of your system. If it's a common cold it basically has to run it's course but any little thing you can do helps. REST if you can.
