France has been invaded many times. That, and various plagues, led to a general inclination not to trust strangers. To that mix you add a very interesting culture, a terrific language, hyper-competitive schools, and a false sense of national superiority... and then you will see some odd ideas popping out of them.

Why are Yanks so afraid of everything? Let's take World War II. Back in 1939 when the US was needed, it was a nation of cowards saying "It's Europe's war, not ours". When knowledge of the concentration camps was first known, before Hitler declared war on the US, the US did nothing, saying "It's the jews' problem, not ours".
So much for defending democracy. But then, the US has never given anything but lip service to democracy then, now, or at any time.

That is an overgeneralization. . . rather like saying that all US citizins are war mongers. It only appears that way to the rest of the civilized world (the war monger part, can't say about how the French are viewed)

Because for some reason, France think its have diversity of people living in France and is afraid to take any sides. Currently, too many Muslims are living in France. Like too many Turkish people are living in Germany.

For exemple, they are able to say no to the most powerful country in the world if they think it is against their ideas.
