Thats just what I was going to say, Tigeria! Have a Makeover or manicure day! Make it fun, give her a manicure - even paint them first if that will help her to relax and get into the fun of it. Let her pick out a color. Let her watch you do yours. Maybe you could clip dad's or somebody else's to show her that it doesn't hurt to get them done too. Also, be calm with her when she fights and reassure her, but let her know that you are doing it so she doesn't scratch herself with them, and that it is just what people do. It might even help to let her help you hold the clipper... it might be not having the control (like getting a shot) that is the scariest part for her. Hope those ideas help!

If you can, wait until she is fast asleep. There is also some baby nail clippers that you can buy that is really good to keep from cutting the nails too deep. I made a game out of it with my little one so use your imagination, eventually she'll sit still for you.

Let her sit on your lap while you clip yours and let her help you while saying "Thank-You sweety", or "Good Job". Once yours are done ask her if she would like hers done. If the reply is "No" then tell her that you will help her and after your finished that the two of you will paint your nails. You can sing to her and say how pretty her nails are now.

I only paint my 15mth olds toenails b/c she still chews on her fingers, but I bet your little one will love her toes painted. If you already paint them then tell her that she can't have her toes painted until she clips her nails without fighting.

Everything that we do with our toddlers has to be fun and when they do a good job we need to praise them and tell them we are proud with a hug and kiss.

I have an 18 month old and she hates getting her nails clipped and my mother told me to sing to her. I sing "1 little, 2 little, 3 little toesies, 4 little, 5 little, 6 little toesies, 7 little, 8 little, 9 little toesies, 10 little toesies on (insert your childs name here) foot". Sing to the tune of "1 little, 2 little, 3 little Indians". It works like a charm she sits there and watches. I add funny faces and a tickle (she is very ticklish) here and there, that helps too. If she gets tired and restless then I just let her up and let her play for a few minutes then we start again. Good Luck!!

My son is like that. Wait until she is asleep. You may have to try different times while shes asleep like I 1st tried my son after hes been asleep for awhile but that just woke him up I found out that if I clip his nails about 30 minutes after he falls asleep I can get them all done real quickly.

With my son, he would go "ow ow ow!" before I ever got near him. So I just started saying "Oh that doesn't hurt," each time I clipped. I said it in a funny way, and each time he said "ow" I responded that way. It's all I said the whole time. Then at the end I'd say, "That didn't hurt, but I bet this tickles!!" and then tickle him silly.

Eventually, he caught on that it was a game and would test me with it. Later he got over his anxiety completely.

It's just my strategy. I know my sister was so much of a tyrant my mother just did it when she was sleeping.

try to give her a favorite toy or something to distract her while you cut her nails it always works on my son.and i think the best time is when they barely get out of the bath because there nails are soft and its easy and fast

Wait until she is asleep. You may only be able to cut a couple at a time without waking her, but eventually you will get it done!

yeah u can either wait until she's sleep or distract her....when i had to cut my neice and nephew's nails i would make it into a lil game because they thought it would hurt and were scared. as they got older it got easier because they knew what to expect.

this is what I do with my now 6 years old, he used to fuss about that, so I would say ..."Look , Oh my God look at your nails they are soo big, look look lets cut one, lets cut the other one" I will say it on a very exciting tone, so he found it funny, (call me crazy but it worked).
