When you lose weight, you also lose muscle. But when you gain weight, you only gain fat.

If you don't exercise, it will be harder for you to lose weight and easier for you to gain back what you lose.

Remember that muscle burns more calories than fat. If you have 12% body fat, then you burn more calories while sitting still than if you have 25% body fat. So if you lose weight without building muscle, you set yourself up to gain the weight right back. Sooner or later you will stop dieting. But your metabolism will have slowed down, and you will put on fat.

By not exercising, you are actually reducing your body's ability to burn calories even when you're not exercising.

no matter how much you DIET. all diets should include regular exercise if you want to keep the same shape you had while working out.... if you dont feel like going to the gym. get some 'at home weights" and jumprope...run walk. anything to STAY ACTIVE while dieting. its not healthy for you to not exercise...

Hi
Many times we combine diet with an exercise plan however you should note that additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss.

70% of weight loss is diet. I think you will lose muscle though, but if you are eating properly you shouldn't gain weight.
