theres this one kid at my highschool who has down syndrome, and some of the gange member give him drugs, dare him to do bad and nasty things and throw things at him. The kid is 17 years old, but doesnt realize that this stuff is bad and he just laughs abouit it when people treat him bad, why is that?
although i feel sorry for him i cnt help but laugh.

i do feel bad about it and i want to stop, but those gang member bring sometimes guns and knives to school, they are the crip gang

down's syndrome is a disorder where the child is born with an extra chromosome, it is like mentally he will be a child forever. it is horrible that you laugh at him even worse that gang members are giving him drugs.

I want to answer this as a mother of a handicapped child, oh wait I am the mother of a handicapped child.....
I get very angry when I hear of this kind of treatment. Like when peeps put cats on fire and laugh about it.
Do you laugh cause of not having the guts not to? If you would say to these kids quit it, will they think less of you?
When my child makes a friend, this is a friend for life. Cant find this in normal kid these days!
This child who is being mistreated doesn't no any better, bad attention is better then no attention. Some of these kids do not have a mean bone in there body, not like normal kids.....
Since you are asking this question you may have some good left in you. Next time you see this think of what kind of man you want to be..... It takes a man to stick up for this other who is being bullied, and a boy to laugh at him.

You feel sorry for him and yet you laugh when the other kids abuse him. Wow! That is pretty sadistic. Guilt is a big thing to live with. It isn't right what the other kids are doing and what your not doing. If your scared about what the other kids will think...drop a letter off anonymously at the counsellor, principal, teacher or anyone that can help. Don't wait till something worse happens.

The kid isn't experienced enough and doesn't know about things like this. He probably thinks they are his friends and trusts them..
Well this is wayyyyyyyyyyyy wrong for people to do this to him.. They feel threatened because he is different so they will do this to him and make an *** out of him to make themselves feel better, which is disgusting..
This boy should really be in a special school for his concerns and needs where he will have people around him just like him and staff that are experienced on the subject..

when I was in HS people who did that to the downs kids they would get beat up! yeah nobody liked it when others picked on them or made fun of them! thats what u need a butt kickin for laughing! Tell the school principal, heck if u dont want to be seen then call the school and tell them! That needs to stop! People need to grow up!
and I agree they r the nicest people u will ever meet!!
Plus what if someday he decides to take the drug and it kills him! How would u feel then? Tell before it's too late!

You should be man enought not to laugh. There was a kid when I was in high school who was like that, I never laughed at him or done anything bad to him. I would get on other kids for making fun of him, today he is still my friend. He is a little slow, but he is also human and I can respect that. I could never make fun of someone who has mental disorder, I'm not perfect myself.

In your heart, you know what you should do. Let the principal or a teacher know what's going on, even if you do it anonymously!
It's our duty as decent human beings to stick up for each other. It's our responsibility.
Those other boys - gang, drugs, whaaatever - will learn the lesson of "what goes around comes around." So NOT cool.

Shame on you for thinking this is funny and not helping in some way. This is something that needs to be reported to his parents or someone in authority in your high school. Downs syndrome is a congenital disorder that has defiencies throughout the whole body. They usually have poor functioning metabolisms and approximately 1/3 of them are born with heart defects. While their bodies may grow their mental growth rarely grows above the 3rd grade level. All these things combined with the drugs he's given and the high risk behavior put him in physical danger. Please report what is happening to someone. Be someone who champions someone who is unable to care for himself and doesn't always know he is being put at risk. No one needs to know it was you who reported it. You'll be proud of yourself.

In a few years you will look back at this in horror and can't believe that you didn't do something! Take a step to help this person and you will feel really good about what you are doing. Obviously since you are asking you know something is wrong! Don't let it continue

His mind is of a 8 year old and he is laughing and doing these things because he think that y'all like him and he wants to fit in.You should not laugh at someone who can not help the way that they were born. Trust me this will come back to haunt you someday.God made all people different in their own ways.
