Now that I have your attention, I'd like some opinions on a fight club that a friend and I are starting. We got the idea recently when we were purchasing some boxing gloves. It struck me like lightning, "Dude, we need to start a fight club." So now he and I have it in our heads to carry this through. Starting off we are going to recruit fighters in our circle of friends and later on, slowly gain new members. My friend posted a similar question to this one and no we are not 14 year old underweights trying to act macho. I myself am in it for the, fun, competition, and fitness that comes from boxing. But of course we'll allow more than conventional boxing, other styles and forms are acceptable. Also we will be concerned with safety as we will be wearing gloves and mouthgaurds, and will have a first aid kit on hand. After we get enough fighters we will train, have fights, and when everyone is ready we will have matches with spectators. Gambling will be allowed, but 10% goes to the club.

by the way, i've never seen the fight club movie so i don't know much about it. but i have wondered, if the guys in the fight club don't talk about fight club, then how do people hear about fight club to join fight club, cause obviously the people in fight club will not talk about fight club, so they won't tell anyone about it, which means they can't recruit anyone into fight club cause they can't tell anyone about fight club, am i making any sense?

me and my friends have been doing it for years, we watch UFC on PPV and drink beer the whole time then by the time its over we are drunk and put on the gloves and fight in the basement and video tape it. its alot fun and so far no one has got hurt more than a fat lip or black eye, just know that if you are using boxing gloves grappling is near impossible (you need your fingers) but if you use the gloves like in UFC or PRIDE you will be much more likely for injury's like concussions and such, so have fun but be careful

Listen! You're being a idiot! You have no idea how dangerous this is! You're taking this too lightly!

You may see fighter on television warm up then walk straight to ring/cage. behind the scene is whole different!

The trainer are there to train them and monitor their health and make sure they're okay. The trainer tend to have years of experience under their belt, many have certificate in some kind of massage threapy, first aid, even EMT or something similar. So they know what to watch for.

Then the fighter have to had physical exam by the doctor on the day of the fight. The doctor ask you all kind of exam, examine you throughly and everything. It's not uncommon for at least a couple amateur fighter to be unable to fight over small thing such as fast pluse, being knocked out not long ago, etc...

Then they have the commitee check the gloves, watch how hands are wrapped, professional referee who know what to watch for, ring side doctor who have medicine degree, and many more people. Plus their trainer.

Then after the fight, sometime doctor would come up to double check on the fighter.

You have no idea what you're getting into! A simple bruised ribs can easily turn into collaspe lung, a simple uppercut that knock out someone can actually damage their brain without anyone knowing for couple weeks, a hard blow to body can cause interior bleeding, and many other nasty thing.

Also the first time someone get hurt and need to go to doctor, polices will be all over this case and it all will be shut down.

So don't be stupid! Go and get into gym and train for legal event or something!

Also once there's moneys involved, expect lot of weapons come into scene. Imagine someone getting shot, who will take the blame? YOU WILL! because you're the one who start the whole event! Also it will attract lot of bad people.

So stay away from that crap!

What you are proposing is illegal for a reason.
The fighters are not in a safe environment. One of them may get very hurt. Do you like to make Pele stutter and lose train of thought a lot? Do you understand the legal risk you're taking? OH VAY! the lawsuit possibilities alone are staggering!

The gambling! This is going to make the whole thing very unsafe. I have read about people getting shot over gambling disputes. This is a criminal element you do not want involved. With it usually comes guns and drugs.

The whole thing is just a bad idea. It sounds like you want a club that is cool and you are the center of the whole thing. Perhaps you should try taking a martial art, it will lift your self esteem, help you earn confidence in yourself. Plus there will plenty of oppurtunity to fight. You will make social contacts through the school, go out with them , meet more people. Please rethink this fight club idea.

the only fight club worth joining is the ufc or an underground fight club which is not legal nor made public on the internet. i have faught in some local fight clubs and if you are gonna start one the first rule is do not make it publically known unless it is 100% legal. the fight club i have faught in is 100% illegal and underground. first you start off with close friends and use word of mouth with seriouse fighters. as for this 10% club profit is bull ****. it costs each fighter $50 to even step in the ring and then take bets. the winner takes $200 and the looser takes nothing. or whatever the organization decides before-hand. and the club takes the rest to pay off bets or whatever. so my point is if ur gonna start a fight club that is illegal dont make it public and if ur gonna start a legal sanctioned fight club good luck.
sincerely,
someone who knows his fightclubs

Dude, if you are of age, find a bar that will sponsor a fight night. The American Kickboxing Assn sponsors amateur nights. Work out the details on the gate and a cut with the bar owner. And you will need someone with a little more that a first aid kit.

None, but since I missed out on the chickenpox question, I shall tell you that I was a lot tougher than you are at your age, despite my genitalia, because when I caught chickenpox at age 16 from my sister Daphne who was 7, I went EVERYDAY!!! I was a sophomore, so all I had to do was put on lots and lots of foundation! I wasn't ABOUT to let a few blisters stop me from exempting my finals (for good grades & attendance) and make me take the TAAS test a year later with those who failed it! My score was 2200 where you needed 1770 to exempt the college SAT, so I've never had to take anything but math placement tests for colllege! Shame on you, little boy, for worrying so much about getting the chickenpox! Haven't you ever had a cold in your life? Or are YOU the reason they say people whose names rhyme with virus (Iris & Cyrus) cannot get them? It certainly isn't because of my boyfriend and I since we both have colds now but HAVEN'T MISSED A DAY OF ANYTHING THIS WEEK!!! That's what it really means to be strong -- being THERE for those who feel a neeeeeeeeed to see you, those who wake up thinking, "I'm gonna see Name today!" and it gives them the courage to get out of bed! You don't need to be athletic to do that, you just gotta have spunk. And that doesn't mean worrying that you'll die of chickenpox!

Just be careful! =) It's a great thing, in theory, but just be careful, because gatherings like that can sometimes draw out one or two people who give it a bad name.... or who might misuse what your original intention for it was. If you guys do it, then best of luck!
