Perhaps one of the reasons for your lapse in faith has to do with the unbiblical hierarchical structure of the RCC which seeks to put men above other men and between God and men. Now might be a great time to investigate learning about having a personal relationship with God through Christ by attending a Christ honoring, Bible teaching Christian church in your area.

Sorry if that's not the type of answer you were looking for, but I don't know what RCIA stands for. However as someone who was raised in a family that all fell away from their Catholic roots and who was called out of my agnosticism by God into an excellent Christian church that's my best recommendation. Listen for 20 minutes to any of the sermons that my Pastor has been airing on the radio across the nation and on WMCA in New York and see if there isn't a real difference between honest and encouraging Christian Bible preaching and what you are used to OK?

Hi Joe! I'm also Joe!

Are you returning to the practice of the faith? If you are, I'm glad to hear it! The best thing to do is to contact your local and/or favorite parish. They will run an RCIA program and they MAY also adult education programs.

The RCIA is primarily for new Catholics, but there is a lot of good instruction.

To return to the practice of the faith, however, the main thing is to go to confession and just begin to practice the faith. And look for any parish accessible to you that offers classes in the faith so that you can deepen your understanding of it and draw closer to God!

You might also want to check out two great sites and listen to their programs online: www.ewtn.com and catholic.com. The second site has many many call in programs in which people ask questions about the faith. It's VERY educational!

You might also ask about getting a spiritual director, someone who can help you listen to what God is calling you to in your life.

I hope this helps and God bless!

Find a Catholic Church in Manhattan. Call the office and they will probably be able to set you up with a sponsor. Don't be timid about finding a Church to attend RCIA at, they will be delighted to help you, and it makes me feel good just to know that you are seeking your faith again. Good Luck, God Bless you on your journey!

Any Catholic church. Now's a good time to get started; the initiation of adults into the Catholic church is typically done around Eastertime, and classes start months before that. Exactly when, I don't know.

My best recommendation is to go to the Father John Corapi website or EWTN catalog and order Father Corapi's Catechism of the Catholic Church series on VHS or DVD. I have the tape set and I've watched it twice. You will learn it from him.

There seems to be about 93 parishes in Manhattan County: http://www.ny-archdiocese.org/pastoral/search-for-a-parish/

Any local parish should be able to answer your questions.

With love and prayers in Christ.
