Cut first. Then you can have the dye put in to best suit the style. If you plan on having some highlights and lowlights for a more natural look, your hair needs to be in the cut and style that you are going to wear it in. That way you and/or the stylist knows where you need the lighter colors and were you need the darker colors. If you color first, then end up with bangs, layers, angles, or something different that what you've got now, the coloring may not look as good as it did on your existing cut.
If all you are doing is getting a trim, nothing new, then you can get it done all in the same day. It won't make a difference since you aren't changing style, just taking an inch or two off the ends.

Dye then cut this way you cut off the dry ends that are caused the the chemicals in the dye.

Usually they will dye then cut. The dye can damage the ends of your hair, so the already-damaged parts will take the brunt of it, and they will know how short it needs to be after the dye job.

Dye it first and then cut it, that way you'll be able to get rid of the dry ends.

Cut it first. What if you color first then discover that you don't have enough color in the bottle to cover it all? That happened to me. Color the roots first, because the ends are more porus and will take the color faster than the top part. If you are worried about dry ends, use conditioner. Actually, if you cut first you shouldn't even have a problem with dry or split ends. They will be already cut off.

Dye it, then cut it. When you get your hair dyed it can damage the ends, so cutting it afterwords helps prevent split ends.
