I'll give you some tricks which were recommended for my son and then tell you what worked in the end:
1. Use a doll or a stuffed animal and pretend he/she goes potty (do the whole routine - sitting on the potty, producing something (canned spinach or similar), and then going through an elaborate rewards routine with the doll (hugs, kisses, songs, dance, presents -- all for the doll). Your daughter will want attention too and will try the same thing.
2. If she communicates pretty well, offer bribes/presents for when she goes.
3. Go to the store with her and ask her to help you buy a potty that she likes.
Okay. Now as to what has worked for us (might sound a little gross): Remove all clothing from the waste down and situate a potty within easy reach (near the TV, for example). It's unlikely that at 3 she'll go on the floor and will likely just surprise you by going in the potty. She probably has some sort of routine (like wanting to go after a meal) - so you know when to do this. The trick is not to supervise her closely. Kids are more likely to go when parents are not watching!

Getting her real "big girl" underwear helps. Doing a "potty dance" dancing around the house with her if she goes to the bathroom. Stickers are always a good idea and let her put them on a piece of paper on the fridge so everyone can see how well she is doing.

first say mommy does # 2. why don't you be like mommy. OR you can say big girls do number 2. ask if she is a big girl. if she say yes encourage her and if she says know, say i think you are. just try to persuade her. try using cartoon characters name too. say Dora poo poo in the toilet. BE creative. OR you can say every time you go to the bath room, you will get a treat rather it be fruit, candy, a toy, or something fun. when she uses the bathroom you two can do the potty dance. i saw this on Nanny 911. also you can have her put colorful marbles in a jar every time she goes to the bathroom. by the end of the week, you can say you earned a prize or just praise her by saying you are a big girl just like mommy.

Have her hang out with other kids that already go #2 on the potty; between the competition and the spirit of kids, my son learned on the spot. When it was just him and I, NOTHING was working. Good luck!

just wait until shes going poop. then rush her to the bathroom.
and sit her on the toilet. make sure to give her praise if she does. clap your hands and get all excited!. say "Yay, you did it! you went poop!" it also helps if you get rid of the diapers. have her pick out some underpants. that way she wont want to mess them up. alot of times. once they start using the toilet to go #1. they will do #2 when they are ready.

Make a habit of asking her if she has to go until she lets you know ahead of time.
