2. Lots of repetition. Counting, flash cards, etc. Make your child count everything! Make them learn counting first, and then do the looking and telling you what # they are seeing. It's easier that way.

Good luck. It gets pretty frustrating sometimes. But no matter what you do, don't get mad. I get mad, and it doesn't help anything. And really, even if they don't look like they are learning...they are like sponges and remember so much more than they let on. :)

Learning to identify numbers comes after the ability to discriminate between shapes. Usually between the ages of 3 and 5, depending on the child and how much they are worked with on recognization.

My daughter knew 1-10 just before her 2nd birthday. I didn't cram the learning down her throat - it just happened one day, I pointed to all the numbers and she named every one of them. My son, well he's got a way to go - he's only 8 months, he's really good a drooling right now lol

My just turned 3 year old knows them up to 10 but can "forget" them at some points, LOL. She knows her age on her fingers and can count things out. But if I threw out a 5 and said whats that, she probably wouldnt get it 100% of the time. :)

my kid was 2 when she began to count now she is almost 3 and is being to add but she still doesn't know them by seeing them down on paper, huh kind of funny if you want to teach your kid begin in there twos so they can get the habit of counting but i think when they can write thats when they will identify them. till then have fun
