I see this all the time here. Folks use the title non-believer as if it means one who does not believe in deity. So help me get my terminology clear. What exactly is a non-believer?

Is a Catholic a non-believer?
Is a Jehovah’s Witness a non-believer?
Is a Neo-Pagan a non-believer?
Is a Mormon a non-believer?
Is a 7th Day Adventist a non-believer?
Is a Presbyterian a non-believer?
Is a Pastafarian (FSM) a non-believer?

It is all so confusing and makes my brain hurt.

Please don't hurt me anymore.

OMG!!!

It's getting worse. Now I'm suppose to know what someone believes in their core being in order to judge if they are a non-believer or a believer. How am I going to do that?!?!?

Oh woe is me!!!!

Jeez I’m glad I’m a pluralist. This stuff is just too tough for me.

I use non believer for belief in no deities... I generally prefer it over "atheist" because that term can just sound a bit harsh IMO. That's entirely how I have seen it used here by others. So it's not a person of any religion, unless you said someone of a religion are a non believer of other religions...but I don't think that would normally be used, they are still a believer in a god.

A non-believer is an atheist. From one's vantage, however, another could be a non-believer of "pagan". For the Muslim, those who do not subscribe to Islam are infidels. Among Christians, all claim to be believers but all of the more than several thousand denominations claim that all others are false believers. If you believe in religious anarchy, look at the whole spectrum of "Christians".

A non-Believer is someone who rejects the Deity of Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made for us on the cross.
Some Catholics are.
JW's are.
Neo-Pagans are.
Mormons are.
7th Day Advetists are legalistic believers
Some Presbyterians are.
Never heard of a Pastafarian.
Are they the ones that use ferina in their pasta?

Let's boil this down...where I come from, anyone can say, "I'm a Christian". But they are only "saved" or a believer if they truly have given their life to Christ. The Bible says "you will know them by their fruits" (a believer will act like one who follows Christ). Even seasoned believers can be deceived.

A "non-believer" is one who does not profess salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. To accept forgiveness based on faith in Jesus Christ and through God's grace is to become a "believer."

Therefore . . there are people of all religions and denominations that are not "believers" even though they might call themselves Christians. And you don't have to be a member of any denomination or religion in order to be a "believer."

That shouldn't hurt too much.

i think of rather of the Mormons. they have integrated nicely into society and emphasize some rather middle American values at the same time with no longer undemanding paintings, know for others and patriotism. it is likewise an extremely ingenious faith with unique visions and rather an American invention. it extremely is weird and wonderful, yet in a innocuous way that comforts many. Please no emails from Mormons!
