My CAT is 30 pounds..he is fluffy and orange and white..he is my baby..He thinks he is a lap cat..but he makes my legs go numb. I got him from someone who was moving. He is 5 yrs old though. I have put him on a diet and that is why he is weighing in at 30 pounds..lol. I think its fine for your cat to be 15 pounds. If you don't think its a safe weight. contact your vet. Maybe play with your cat more often..feed less..just like us humans do..diet and excerise...it works! Good Luck!

I have a very petite female cat that weighs 8 pounds and is a little pudgy. I have a 13 yr old cat that is a large cat for a female. She weighs just over 7 lbs and is horrifyingly thin. However, she just had a vet check, blood work and all and was pronounced in perfect health.
I have a male cat who is 14. He weighs twelve pounds. I have another male cat 12 yrs who also weighs twelve pounds.
I have a 22 yr old female cat who is very petite and she weighs 8 pounds. She has a pretty fat little old lady belly like her owner.
In general I feel that 8-10 pounds is usually right for a female.
12-14 for a male. That's in general because weight will vary according to breed (Maine Coons and such) or bone structure.
So I am sure I would judge Ollie to be overweight and needing some diet change so that he doesn't continue gaining weight.
Risks of diabetes is high in overweight cats as it is in humans. You don't want to end up giving insulin shots twice a day for the rest of your cat's life.

I have a girl cat that weighs about 6-8 pounds. We also have an outdoor cat that weighs about 12 pounds that's really not fat just big. My sister has two indoor cats that are 20+ pounds each. Several vets checked them out and they are just REALLY BIG cats and not fat at all.

I don't know. It depends on how old the cat is . It's been about 5 or more years since I have had a cat.
A few things to concider is ;
Does he eat healthy? for example too many table scraps .
Is there any way to get him more active ? Maybe a toy would help . Maybe he'll burn off some calories . I don't know if that applies to cats but I think so .
Look for another brand of cat food .
It might be good to talk his veternarian.

Hi there...Felines reach their full growth rate at 18 months. Depending on the breed of cat you have will determine the size and weight of a kitty. However, with a mix breed usually called a "domestic short/long hair" their weight and size varies like mixed breed canines. For example I have two male kitties who are two different breeds (Bengal and Abyssinian). At 10 weeks old they both weighed about 4 pounds....6 months later the Bengal weighed 7lbs and the Aby 9lbs... at a year the Bengal was at 10 lbs and Aby at 13. They eat the same volume of food daily, yet their appearance is visibly different. I hope this tidbit helps a bit more. :-)

Maxy should weigh 8 pounds Bushy 10 and Bruin 12, that's wwhat my vet told me their weight depends on their size and age, so yes all my cats are HAPPY overweight cats!!

Is it fine cat don't like to go up high and stuff like you said. Cat is an animal, like we are, every animal likes certain stuff, it is normal to have a fat cat, as long you love him/her and they love you, everything is fine =D
Hopefully you have fun with Ollie! Do you skateboard?

A lot depends on the breed. My Maine Coon weighs 16 pounds which is small for a male cooncat.

i don't think you need to worry too much about weight as long as he's healthy and can do what he wants to do. our cat is going on 11 years old, and she could definitely do without a few of her 20ish pounds, but she still climbs trees, gets up high into her old hideouts and plays around just like a kitten. so we don't worry.
take a look at your cat and see if his weight is becoming a problem for him - if he is prevented from doing what he wants to do, or needs to do, you may need to change his diet a little, but if it isn't a problem, don't worry about it.
