I belong to a social organization willing to change the bad political practices of our city, so we are designing a process to choose the best candidate out of a group of good people, but we don´t know how to do it.
We´ve thought about some kind of "reality", internet voting or hiring an opinion poll; we want something transparent, big, representative and with high impact.

One method could be finding interested candidates that are active in communities, therefore they will be respected by the ones that feel they have been neglected by society.somrone that can show reason that a change to better will make it better for both sides (the rich) and (the poor).

I know what you mean, I live in Chicago. You know i just saw this documentary about a guy who thought his city was to corrupt so he dressed up in this black bat outfit, and drove real cool car to fight crime!
