Maybe when he left you in the past, he was confussed and thought that was what he wanted. But when he was away he finally realized what he was missing, he finally realized how much he loves you. This is what my b/f and I went through, we didn't see each other for about a week and realized that we really do love each other. I wouldn't let him go unless you don't want to be in the relationship or he doesn't . Hope this helped
