I have heard $400/ month is on the high end - really check out the details if you really do keep 100% or if utilities are included or if they want you to pay a percentage - plus think about the location and appearance - do you want to pay less to be in a dump with scummy people or pay a little more for a better place and a higher class of clients - lots to consider good luck and always ask lots of questions!!

Unless you have provisions in her contract that she must pay no matter what, you will probably have to give her the week without rental charge. Most salon owners that rent booths out have a provision in the contract that the booth rental must be paid even if the renter is not present or working. If you don't have that provision and you want to keep a good relationship with her you should not ask her to pay.

Business is a Business. No Doubt ! However, it all depends on the contract between the two. In case, the contract between the two, is silent on the issue. This time, you may let out the booth to another person for a week (if possible) or pass on the responsibility on the existing hirer to bring in another person, for a week. In process you avoid loosing rent for a week, neither she bear a burden of rent for a week, and she neither put her clients (customers), into any inconvenience. Now, when you have become cautions of the possible situation (i.e., your awareness and concern), you better clear the issue with your hirer(s) and include the suitable clause, in the contract. Good Luck !!
