From where I live, in Marion, to Bluefield and maybe beyond there and other areas, there are displays of three-crosses side-by-side in various places that are visible from the highway. It's like the crucifixion crosses.
According to my mom, some preacher went around with some people and put these displays up back in the 70s in order to make a religious statement. What statement was he trying to make?

It would be really great if you can tell me who the preacher was too, but it's ok if you don't.

I may be incorrect about it being in the 70s, it could have been years before then. BTW, I think I might have found the answer after searching the web.

He was reminding us of the crucifixion of Jesus between two thieves. Jesus died to pay for our sins.

The three crosses are a sign of how Jesus was crucified. Himself and the two thieves at Calvary. This can also be a sign of the Holy Trinity but it's a reminder of what Jesus went through for each and every one of us.

It's not a big secret...
Just a reminder that Jesus died for us.
And the two crosses on either side of the center one is a reminder that we all have a choice to make.
The thief on one cross went to hell.
The thief on the other was given eternal life that day.

The statement should have been that humans cannot tell good from bad and treat them alike. Jesus Christ was given the same treatment as common criminals. So we should not judge others but try to be good humans.
Just my thoughts.

The three crosses represent Christ (center) and the two condemned thiefs, one on either side of him, at their crucifixion.
Jesus was crucified along with others, and the men on either side of him are both mentioned in the Bible.

If people's faith is weak looking at crosses won't help. True Christian pray to God for more faith and study His word. The Bible says displaying of crosses a reproach because you would bring Jesus' shame upon him again for your own weakness.
