anti freeze software is quite a dumb solution to me.
frankly speaking the best solution to anti freeze is reboot.
wat those anti freeze software do is trying to unfreeze and terminate and restart the failing applications, which in many case a total failure.
Symantec Norton Utilities used to have such unfreeze utility, but now it no longer available in the Systemworks Suite, reason is simple, it is useless.
If u don't reboot, the system will not run smooth and further freeze will appear.

1) uninstall all unnecessary software
control panel-> add/remove
2) don't start up programs needlessly:
start->run
type 'msconfig'
click on 'start up' tab
uncheck all not required software
3) turn indexing off
start->programs-> administrative tools-> services
find "Indexing Service"
see this for other services to stop automating at boot, &login
http://www.jasonn.com/turning_off_unnecessary_services_on_windows_xp
4) schedule anti virus and spam checks in the middle of the night instead of time the computer is in use
5) don't upgrade or update software unless you really need the improvements. As software changes many times it takes more space and system resources. "If it ain't' broken don't fix it"
6) Clean the pc weekly
use CCleaner

every-time i had this problem it was registry errors, unfort i have not found a regfix program that was 100% reliable, some were 99% but screwed up an active-x component, some screwed up the Windows Media (quartz.dll); some programs with the registry back up didnt work properly when i tried to revert back to the registry before i, i have an old comp so what i do is back up files to cd-r, and usually have to reformat my hard drive twice monthly.....

You know I dont think there is a software that can keep your computer from freezing, but if you get better giga bytes, it should help. So i would suggest, updating your computer, in graphic details, memory, and how fast it can go.
