Is it that most people don't know whats happening. It is not about BLS any more. There are people out there trying to take our right to own pets away. With California trying to make it angist the law to have an unaltered pet at all. If you do not know what that means on one will be able to have show dogs becasue you can not show a altered dog. There are states and city passing laws you can not have pets like hamsters, rats ginnie pigs, exotic brids like paroits, snakes and tropcal fish. For those who thinks PETA will help:
Here is a quote from Ingrid Newkirk PETA’s president.
“I don’t use the word “pet.” I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer “companion animal.” For one thing, we would NO LONGER ALLOW BREEDING.. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance — Ingrid Newkirk, PETA’s President, quoted in The Harper’s Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223. “

The problem is people think no one pays attention to PETA. That is why they can, Without people taking notice, they have put their people in postions to carry out thier wish and take away our rights and impose their will. They take in almost 30 million dollars a year. They kill 90% of the animals they take in. Where do you think the money is going.

Nobody really cares what PETA has to say... they are an extremist group and few people take them seriously anyway... as for California, they won't make it illegal to own an unaltered pet... they might reasonably make anyone with one apply for a much more expensive dog license... but is that really a bad thing??? Making sure that people who do breed are doing so responsibly? I'd love to see that law passed in Missouri actually... but that will never happen. They don't enforce the current laws there anyway...

I would completely support legislation in my state establishing requirements and monitoring ownership of an unaltered dog. Of course, if you look at the USDA's current state of affairs you will understand what a farce that is to think it will ever happen.

It is hard to believe that PeTA has any credability at all, but people still send them money. I think PeTA exists to make the other AR orgs look mainstream and reasonable, when their agenda is the same. MOST people think that HSUS, IDA, ADL, DDAL, etc really do help animals, when in fact most of their donations go towards either fundraising or lobbying to end animal ownership. Quite the con isn't it, people donate to help the cute little animals and the money is used to put an end to having pets.

MOST people are totally unaware of the continuous onslaught of anti-animal laws. Even the people who are against BSL seem to be in the dark about MSN, DDLs, breeder licensing, etc.

Regarding the post about monitoring unaltered dogs. This is being done in some places already. Would YOU want an AR lunatic inspecting YOUR facility, dogs, and pedigrees??? When most of them think ANY breeding is wrong do you think ANY of us would pass??? The thought of someone from the HS inspecting MY pedigrees, when they would know NOTHING about the dogs in the background would be laughable if it weren't so sad and be actually happening.

This is also being done through the MSN law in LA county. Make breeding PB dogs almost impossible and they wonder why they are dealing with the smuggled sickly Mexican puppies. Well, DUH!!!

And what about the dogs that are NOT shown for some reason? What if it is a UKC breed, what if it is a rare breed, what if it is the only ***** left out of an important bloodline that cannot be shown do to an injury? Do you think it is right for a 12 yr old GSD to have to go through major surgery because of a law? IT IS BEING DONE!!! Do you think it is right that there are dog fanciers hiding out with their dogs in FEAR of losing their animals as if they are CRIMINALS???

And what of limit laws? What do you think will happen when they are monitoring everyones dogs and you are over your limit of 2-3? You CANNOT have any kind of decent breeding program and work towards your goals when you can only have 2-3 dogs.

If dog lovers continue to ignore what is going on ALL OVER the country, PB dogs will be a rarity only for the very rich.

"One generation and out". Get it people???

As far as I'm concerned, PETA are a bunch of people with too much time on their hands, who think it's OK to stalk and threaten humans but treat animals better than God!

it might probably be extra accessible to require all cats to be dealt with with a product from the vet once sitting amenities initiate. That way you're particular no fleas will take over.

PeTA isn't interested in animal welfare, rather in animal rights (there is a difference).

And I would expect that any spay/neuter legislation would have specific verbiage in it regarding show animals.
