If some dumbass christard comes to my door trying to convert me to his cult, and I ask him politely to leave and he refuses, am I allowed to punch the ****** in the face?

...or is that illegal? REMEMBER: us atheists have the same rights as you, including freedom FROM religion, as much as it irritates you bible thumping freak shows...

LOL just wondering...Im not a violent person, but this kind of thing does happen and I do get a bit of an urge sometimes...so damn obnoxious with their better-than-thou bs. they never go away, even when asked nicely!

I don't ask them nicely, I tell them to get off my property and don't come back. Works like a charm. Even Miss Manners wouldn't come down too hard on me; they're being extremely rude, trying to push their religion on me on my own doorstep.

I even have a "no solicitors, no evangelists" sign on my doorbell, but they just ignore it.

According to the law, the one who throws the first punch (or spits or otherwise causes physical contact) is the one who gets arrested. The exception would be if your punch could be considered self-defense.

It pretty much doesn't matter how obnoxious the other person is or that they didn't go away when you asked "nicely." So you'd better control yourself.

When I've asked someone to go away, they always have. What's so different about you?

You are right that when requested to leave they should. Even though they believe that what they are doing is right you do have the right to choose. Though I myself am, a Christian I do believe that you have that RIGHT to choose if you follow any particular religion. Next time just find your inner strength and shut the door. And to the people going door to door keep at it but when asked to leave do so and just leave a Bible at the persons door step.

First off, I'm a Christian.

Second off, you have a right to be Atheist by our government and by our religion.

NOBODY is ever supposed to force religion on you if you don't want to hear it. Certainly we're supposed to do our darndest to let you know our gospels, but we aren't supposed to "not go away" when you say go.

So... Being an advocate of my own personal brand or religion inclusive humaism, I would say that you ought to floor the false prophet dirtbags and send him bag to his Bible to rethink his tactics before attacking the world like an amateur.

Sir, I apologize on the behalf of Christians who are unlearned. The scripture clearly says not to cast your pearls before swines lest they turn and rend you to pieces. Which is what you were saying about punching them in the face. Not everybody is on the same level and has grown to understand simple concepts like this. I agree with you totally. If you do not want to hear what I have to say. I won't waste your time and mine. God bless you.

There's no reason to be a d!ck about it. Yeah, there are extremists out there on the religious side too.

You just have to remember that people who truly believe in God (Allah, Buddha, whatever) believe you have a soul that will perish for all eternity if you continue to reject God. They just want you to enjoy the peace of mind they have, that's all.

Having said all that, I have to admit, it would be kind of funny if a guy dressed up in a shirt and tie and went around to neighborhoods trying to convert people to atheism.

OK, true story. I used to work graveyard shift w/ a 2nd cousin, who lived in a basement apartment, and slept 1st shift...this is what he did!
He woke up to somebody banging on the door. So he crawls outta bed, his hair a mess & bloodshot eyes. He threw on his robe (red & black satin) and headed for the door. When he opened it, there was 2 lady Jahova's. "Can we come in and talk you about Jesus?"
So in a low gravely voice, with an evil smile on his face, he looked them in the eye and said
" I DOUBT that the MASTER would APPRICIATE THAT !!!
He said they couldn't get outta there quick enough! LOL
Then there's alway's the good ol' sign that reads "We shoot ever 3rd solicitor...feel LUCKY?"

Hang a sign on your door that warns Christians to stay away and when you have an accident and need blood and surgery, absolutely insist that the blood come from an athiest and that all in the operating room be athiests also. stick by your guns and go out in truthfulness to yourself. Do not give in. If you cannot get an athiest's blood, then do without and if you need surgery and no one is an athiest, then do the surgery yourself.

I'm not an atheist but I wouldn't punch them in the face. I would tell them all the reasons why i don't need to hear their preaching and then back up my reasons with historical facts. Trust me there are so many to pick from

Um. No. That would be aggrevated assault. Lucky for you, most Christians wouldn't sue you, even though you are an 'Athiass'. Just continue to politely say no, and close the door. Actually, being a Christian, when I get jehovah's witnesses, I invite them in and try to convert them, and then they are almost in a hurry to leave! :)
