It can be passed down in generations but it tends to take other forms and higher or lower levels. Its possible to not be passed on at all. If you're worried about your children then just explain to them about the situation. It's an important thing that you keep an eye on so it doesn't digress into suicidal behaviour.

It can be... If you are around people who are extremely negative all day for instance, they can bring you down... just like, If you are having a bad day and you're around a bunch of cheerful people your spirits tend to be lifted.... And there is the "chemical" imbalance too, they are finding could play a role in it all...... My whole theory is it depends what kind of life you are living and how "happy you are" because it reflects... If you are sad, and you have a baby, and you are depessed for the entire 18 years the babys life as they live at home... Obviously they too will feel down.. Good Luck!
