Yes. Any country that has the money can build an atom bomb. The components are available for sale from many so-called peaceful folks.
All a country needs is the money and the time. So long as the rest of the world doesn't bother, a bomb will soon be a part of that county's arsenal.
This is 2006. The Atom Bomb was built in 1945. In 71 years, there would be enough money-hungry people to pass on the secrets to anyone.

Wikipedia rates Egypt as one of the states which at one point had nuclear weapons and/or nuclear weapons research programs. It really doesn't matter because Russia and China are selling nuclear and conventional military technology to the highest bidders at this time. If any country has enough money it can acquire atomic/ nuclear weapons. However, there still is mutual assured destruction. If a country uses nuclear weapons against the United States or one of its allies, the attacking country will in-turn be destroyed.

I can't think of a country in that couldn't develop an atomic bomb. After all the U.S. built them 60 years ago. And that was before it was know for sure that it would actually work.
Once that hurdle was crossed I don't think its that tough to do. After all, the hard work is done. Building a few bombs is one thing building an arsenal is another. Very few countries have the resources and economies capable of financing such an operation.
I think to stop poliferation, the U.S. Russia and China should discuss re-arming ICBM's and targeting these upstart nuclear powers. That would make becoming a nuclear power a little less attractive to know that having a bomb put you on the list to be wiped off the face of the earth in an instant.

Why wouldn't they? Most of the middle eastern countries have a good amount of wealth due to antiquities and fossils fuels. If anyone with a greedy mind and lots of money thinks they have to have more power in their mind through nuclear power. To me is is juvenile to think this way and I don't agree with war in the least but all I can do is try to live among it although I'm not happy about this type of weaponry. Zen Buddhist have a challenging job existing in this world today peacefully.

any country and have a atomic bomb, they merely buy one from Russia, Korea and soon Iran.
Or one can be made by a high school science student if they have the weapons grade urainum.
But in general I would be more worried about chemcial and bio weapons, the security in the US on them are poor, in other nations even worst and can be sprayed by any easy method or just let out.

Yes. Most any country with modern technological information and reasonable wealth could, with effort, develop nuclear weapons. Egypt wouldn't have too much trouble.
Best wishes and God bless.
