No it is not God's work ! Sometimes the sperm does not make it to the perfect state. This awful birth defect can be caused by all types of misfortune. Medicines, Sickness, Hereditary traits, alcahol, drugs, play a major role in this type of a birth defect. It is a terrible thing when this happens. A young girl in our school had no arms. Proof was that her Mother took some sort of a drug and it did the damage to the fetus. So who knows, but God. God did not do that. Us Humans are guilty in the first degree of blaming God, when the only power in this happening is from Humans. I know of another girl who was born with web toes. This is Hereditary. Why does people always blame God ?

Yes, and luckily in 2006 - the baby can find love and care, to be part of Gods larger plan. Earlier in history, even modern history, that would be a dead baby.
The people around the child will rise to the challenge, bringing rewards to all. When you interact with anyone - GOD watches to see in your heart - what are you thinking, doing - to improve your community, and humanity as a whole. Example - People will develop machines to provide independence for people with disabilities,
(Mr. Hawkings, and others).
Today everyone can participate in making humanity better. We just need to be courageous, and be bolder.
Of course this goes against what a lot of people that still believe; they're cursed or "did" something wrong and are being punished, having a baby like that - so humanity has a long way to go, a long way. You aren't cursed having babies. You get cursed in what choices you make with your free will, as you live, then GOD decides your final place.

If you believe in God than yes it's the inspiration of life not the physical body the inspired mind is what's God is. we could say that about a retarded child, a male with a 1" penis, the ugly women Gay's, lesbians, bankers, child abusers/molesters, policeman, governments and so on. So yes this is gods work and so are the people that have no understanding to the defected physical or mentally, just because you think you are normal does not make it so, you may lack understand or many other emotions or reason.

No, when people are born with deformities it is because of sin that was inherited from Adam's fall. I am not saying that the babies born with deformities sinned before they came out of the womb. I am saying that with sin in the world, it brought "imperfection" with it. God is a perfect being. He can not make something imperfect. It goes against His character and nature. If it were not for His mercy everyone born would have some type of defect. However, God chooses who He will decide to let be born normal. In John 8, the disciples ask Jesus, Who sinned this man or his parents that he should be born blind. Jesus said neither, but this man was born like this that the glory of God may be displayed in His life. So, people who are born with deformities can be made whole again through the power of God. This part of what Jesus did while in the earth. He healed people with missing limbs validating who He was.......The Son of God.

Remember God's work is on the spiritual work , his baby is born with without arms or legs, because someone has been doing something, that was against his will, God did not create situation where things like that could happen, man did it, God only allow this to happen, remember we are living with our sins and others, you need to read more book's on the fate, they are really eye opener, I like to read a lot, it dots open your mind, and changers outlook on your life, God's work, does not com simple, remember we can't blame that were something we have done to ourselves, works of God is indivisible, sometimes it's right up front but sometimes it's more complicated, and you need to get to the bottom problem to understand why did it happen who done it. the God, or we did it

Yes. The fact the baby is alive is for a reason. That baby is special in the eyes of God.
I personally believe the baby is suffering from sins of environment or sins of parents though.

God does not 'give' kids cancer or make them with no arms and legs or whatever. God created us in His image. Because of sin in this world, the innocent are affected. Don't blame babies that are affected by pollutants in the world, toxins we put into our own bodies, drugs and pharmaceuticals, poor lifestyle choices, alcohol and tobacco on God. Humans need to begin taking responsibility for their own actions and stop thinking they can live any way they choose, destroy the blessings God has given them and then blame God for the destruction.
God does however use these children to teach us things about ourselves IF we are willing to humble ourselves, listen, and be teachable. These children may have imperfect bodies but their souls and spirits are not any less valuable- if you keep looking at the outside and blaming God, you will have gained nothing. There will always be suffering in the world, it is not for us to try to avoid the pains and sorrows of this world but to perservere, grow, learn and be strengthened for it is He who has overcome the world and in Christ we ARE overcomers.

Yeah, it amazed me that when those Siamese twins were separated last week, so many people were praying for their recovery. Wouldn't a better response be; why, if there were a God, would he allow such a thing to happen in the first place? People who believe in God always have some incredibly moronic answer like, "God works in mysterious ways". Really comforting, don't ya think? People are so gullible.

ok, so I know there will be a bunch of negative replies on this one, but yes...any child is God's work, whether *perfect* in our eyes or not. And a stillborn may be born that way because of something else that God saw that would have been unbearable or otherwise in the future. I can't explain, but there IS a reason for everything....

Yes. I would like to quote something from the book by Rick Warren "The Purpose Driven Life"....
Chapter 2, page 23
God never does anything accidentally, and he never makes mistakes. He has a reason for everything he creates. Every plant and every animal was planned by God, and every "person" was designed with a purpose in mind.
