Simple, Historical fact has proven much of the people, events, and time lines, as a book of history it has been proven on many things. But the biggest key that you leave out is faith.
Faith is the evidence of things unseen, understanding of thing not understandable. In other word things that the world can not understand, can not see, or touch are the evidence of faith.
I am not asking you to believe as I do, nor will I push it on you, it means nothing to you and would be a waste of time. However if I live by faith and do the things that by faith I am called to then first who have I hurt? If I treat others in the manner in which I would like to be treated and put others before myself, who do I hurt?
If I am true to what I claim to believe, does that make what I believe more believable? I believe that when one lives truly by faith then faith is more real in the fact that is how faith is truly seen.
So what if I am wrong, I die, I turn to dust. But if I have helped others along the way, to me it was all wroth it. But what if I am right???? Sorry but that is something that I am not willing to risk. Lets just say that I am right, so I get in to Heaven, that's great for me but what about those that played the game, took the risk and were wrong? For me I don't even want to consider that.
By Faith I believe, by faith I learn, by faith I walk and by faith I see the evedience of things unseen.

Before I ever read the bible, I believed in God. When I was a child, I grew up in a house where people weren't very kind to each other. I was such an unhappy little girl. Somewhere I knew there had to be an opposite of what I saw in this family. I knew there had to be perfect love, kindness, mercy and justice. That is when I remember first feeling His presence.
Decades later, I came to a church that taught the bible. I started studying the bible. In that time, I came to recognize that "presence" I felt as a child so long ago. What I was reading in the bible, about Jesus, He was the one who had been with me.
Over the years, I have come to believe I can trust the bible as God's word. I did not set out believing that...it came after many years of seeing His word proven true all around me, and within me.

I was not raised in church. I believed in God but I didnt really want that way of life. Then a tradegy struck and one of the best people in my life was taken away. I started feeling the need to be a better person, I wanted that personal relationship with God. There was a tug at my heart to ask for salvation and I did. I have never regretted that day for one minute . I had finally found my peace in this world. My life has changed dramatically over the years, people have come and gone, but I still have my Saviour. I am never alone.
It took over 1500 (aprox) years to write the entire books that make up the Bible, let me ask you, how will 2 verses almost identical in words and meaning appear in 2 different books and in different centuries? We didnt have internet, tv, radio, we were primative living people. The words came to the writers from God and only God. Thats my link to the Bible and God, that is why I believe in God and why I believe the Bible comes from God.

I do believe in God; I don't put all of my faith in the Bible. I put all of my faith in God. I chose to believe because my parents took me to church and that is just what we did at church. I had a lot of trouble believing in college and stopped going to church, but then I started going again because I realized that life with out God is pointless. I mean, if you don't believe in God, you have to believe that we are here to live for maybe 80-100 years, and then you die. What significance does that have?
My church small group talked last night about the Bible and I had a lot of questions, but there have been people who have set out to disprove the Bible only to find out that things were EXACTLY where it said they were and there was physical evidence of some of the events described in the old testament, which we know existed almost as we know it back then. Believing takes faith, but not blind faith. Question it. Find out for yourself. There are documentaries and other books that prove the Bible is real. But, I can understand why you would think it is pure fiction. Search around, you will find your answers.

When I read the Bible I see it tells things both past and present that come true. May be a lot of lucky guesses, but, it makes me believe. Not that I have the best life in the world, but, I do believe in God and the promises He makes. Anyone can believe what they want, it our choice. Do you believe George Washington existed? That he was a President of the United States? Why? Because a book tells you? I never seen the guy, I only know what people say and what I read in books.

Can't help myself. May be something genetic (maybe most people's brains are hard-wired for spiritual belief), or environmental (I was raised in a believing family).
I don't believe the Bible IS true, and parts of it ARE pure fiction eg the Book of Job (it doesn't pretend to be anything other than an allegorical story).

Hey. That is a good question for many, because everyone is different. I chose to believe in God because I could not understand the world in any other way, plus I feel him. I see him every time someone smiles at me, everytime a baby is born. You just know that there is a higher power, that we were not by accident, purely by science. The way that the day works out, for example chain of events that lead up to things. When I pray I get goosebumps often, and I know the Holy Spirit is within me, helping me make good decisions and helping me reach out to help make others happy. As for the Bible I believe that some things are not to be taken simply, not really literally. That some things are meant for us to look at it in a modern way, and to relate it to our own lives on how we may be able to make it better. That is my view anyway. Jesus also makes sense to me, that God put himself as a human to come down and show us in the best way how to become more compassionate and humble towards others.

Because I know he is real.
its an experience,
much deeper than just a book.
too deep for some to even fathom. I know in my heart, because I feel him there. like I said its an experience. I have experienced things that I can not even put into words that are so amazing.
how can you look at life, the human body, nature, etc. and not know that there is a God? do you really think that it all came from the "big bang theory"? (which personally i think is just ridiculous)
now you tell us, why you do not believe in him?
you say that how do we know that the bible is not just fiction?, can you prove to me any different?
why do you care what I or anyone else believes? and why do you criticize it? are you to judging what anyone else thinks or believes? or are you just curious? you must be a very sad person.

True answer. I have always believed in God but didn't understand who God is. I set out to learn who God is. I studied religions of the world. I found the Bible to be the most correct historical factual 66 books written. I don't believe in Joseph Smith, Buda, Mohammad or any other man produced religion. The fact is that all of those religions recognize Jesus Christ though. The resurrection of Christ is even in the Quran.

I believe in God because I look up into the night sky and see lights twinkling back at me. I go to the beach and see whole eco-systems living in a tide pool. We sit in a universe that dwarfs us and yet we are like a shining jewel nurtured by the same solar radiation that destroys all things exposed to it. Yet here in our little world, life thrives because of the sun and the diversity of creatures is mind boggling. The more you study life the more you realize that there had to be an intelligence behind it all. This world couldn't have happened by accident. Anyone who looks into the eyes of a new born, whether human or animal, knows there is a Creator.
